Howdy Frey-dawg,

It probably is. The company has been in business for 98 years. In fact, John Kirby invented the vacuum cleaner. Yeah, you just gotta appreciate something that's metal and not plastic. The bitterness of poor quality is remembered long after the sweetness of low price.;)

You still have to call them and set up an appointment. Then a representative comes to your house. Worse case scenario you get your carpets cleaned for free.:D

Well im not really a pro tweaker by any means. :o But my three favorite calibration discs are the "Spears & Munsil High Definition Benchmark", "DVE HD Basics" and the "Disney WOW World of Wonder". The last one i've never tried but i hear it's great. :)

I've tried DVE HD Basics but i feel it's a bit confusing and also the tutorials are also too nerdish for me. I like too get into the nitty gritty but i see no logic in learning something that i don't need too know. I just need too understand what too check and what not too. :p

AVS HD 709 is also a great free calibration disc.

I'll go further with the tweaking of the picture when i get the VP and meter tools but that'll properly be after i acquire the Oppo 93.

On top of all of this i also like too do the same with the sound of cause. Im also kinda obsessive in the way that i want too understand everything about the things i own and all of their settings. That i count as being tweak related.

And then there's all the contemplating i do about the general acoustic environment..Don't get me started on the acoustics. :faint:

You know, I had the Spears & Munsil disc, but sold it with my Oppo 83 before having a chance to use it. I currently have the Disney Wow disc, but it's still sealed.:o Like I said, I set it and forget it.:p I had a professional ISF calibrater do my pj when I first got it. But now that I've replaced lamps, I will bust out the Disney Wow disc when I reach about 400 hrs. I won't pay for another "pro" calibration.

So you're getting a new VP and an Oppo 93? Way cool. Go big or go home.:D

I know you've got a lot of acoustic panels. Are you thinking of getting more?

Hey Wabo,

Do you not feel the pro calibration made much of a difference?

No I don't. It may have just been this particular calibrator. But I've been soured now.

Yes pro calibration is for enthusiasts im sure. Too get the last 10% or less.

It's wierd that the ISF man didn't do much in your eyes but perhaps the projector already had good fleshtones too begin with. :shrug2: :)

Well my system will never trump yours but i had too consider my budget. Being an early pensioner im limited in the cash department and i also want too be done with this overhaul within a reasonable timeframe. I only just started this hobby 1 year ago. So i think i've been rather quick about it. :shades:

You can never get too many acoustic panels unless it's foam (or you have a wifey :D). Yes i plan sometime too either add some more or replace my current ones for some art panels.

Just bought a Kirby vacuum cleaner. OMG! I had no idea how much a freakin' vacuum costs. Lets just say it's more than the upgrade to my Denon AVP.:(
[Show spoiler] But it's built like a tank.

I hear ya bud, a good quality vacuum cleaner is not cheap at all! With the new carpeting that was installed not that long ago I wanted a really good, heavy duty machine. I had been using a Patriot machine and loved it, so when I found out a new model was just introduced that surpassed the one I had, I had to get it.

This new one is one awesome machine!

TGIF Wabo. Do you think it is worth getting the UK version of the Safe House steelie over the BBY version?

Lol. The "ISF" man was here for over 6 hours. I think he was in over his head. The CMS seemed to baffle him.

Are you retired, Spacey? For only starting this hobby a year ago, you're way ahead of the curve. Looking at your pics it appears you've been at this longer than a year.

True dat. You can never have too many acoustic panels.;)

Way cool, amigo. A clean carpet is a happy carpet. That vacuum of yours looks like a Mars rover. I bet it was NASA engineered.;)

Good afternoon, MU.

No, I don't think it's worth it. Keep your Best Buy version.

One of the issues I see with importing steelies from Europe or anywhere else is the possibility of getting a case that's banged up. Paying for more and getting a damaged product doesn't bode well with me. Have you ever experienced this with any of your imported steelies?

Fortunately, I've been lucky and haven't had a Steel arrive damaged. That's not to say they don't try. HMV uses a thin cardboard box. That's it. No bubble wrap or padding. Yeah, the shipping is a killer. Don't be hatin' on your G1 Safe House. Open it up and watch it.:whip:
