What is the "when harry left hogwarts" disc about?

Yeah, Immortals is definitely an R movie.

It's the cast "speaking with candor and emotion" about the final days on the set.:D

Movie Review - "Immortals"

Not mine, but this guy is pretty cool. Good action, not so great script/dialogue, Mickey Rourke gets kudos.

Also, THIS site's review (4/10 Score).

The review for Immortals in the paper this morning gave it one star.:D

It looks a blatant attempt to be in the vein of "300", but w/out the same crew, and prob., a much lower budget.

When a movie is shot in 178:1 it does cover your entire screen? No black bars.

You rock, pimp-master Hamp!

I appreciate the gesture. But I can't have you shipping your beloved BSG to me. The Cylons may intercept it in transit.

I still say they're overdue for a loss and Minnesota is bad record-wise this season but they've been in just about every game. Green Bay's 14 game winning streak could well come to an end tonight, it's not like Green Bay has a championship caliber defense.

Don Corleone 11-14-2011 03:16 PM

After 12 years my Sony receiver is starting to die. The center channel speaker will not produce sound. Is it possible for now to disconnect the two rear speakers and use one of the rear speaker slots (left or right) for my center speaker. The actual center speaker is fine but I think the circuit is blown for center.
If this is not possible can someone recommend a good a/v receiver priced between 300 to 400. I tried searching on amazon but I'm overwhelmed with all the features receivers have today. For example how does HDMI audio work? Some of these units have 4 hdmi slots in the back. So for example my directv unit has one hdmi slot , how would I get hdmi audio to work? One slot on the directv unit has a hdmi slot but it's used to connect to my TVs hdmi slot

Yeah, they looked good yesterday. Although it might have been a different outcome if they played against Tebow.;)

Yep, should be a good game.

Tebow was the first QB to run more than pass for a QB that played the entire game since 1974. They still barely won against a fading Kansas City team and they banged up the two runningbacks they need to make this college scheme work. Tsk, still not sold on Tebow, defenses that are stout against the run will make the Broncos pay, look what the Lions did to them. Jets are mad too, I could see them giving the Broncos fits as well.

Hello. Sorry to hear about your receiver going out. It's been ages since I've looked into the receiver market. I'll defer that to someone else. There's been a few guys here who've recently purchased a new AVR.

As for HDMI. It carries both the audio and the video. So you only need one cable for each HDMI equipped component. Plug your DirecTV unit into one of the HDMI inputs on your new receiver, same for your blu-ray player. Then use the HDMI out from the new receiver and connect that to your tv. You will now use your receiver to switch between components, volume control, etc. Hope that helped and good luck on your receiver search.:)

Don Corleone 11-14-2011 03:31 PM

Thanks Wabo
I now understand how HDMI works on a receiver. I think maybe I should get a yamaha. My Sony lasted 12 years so maybe Sony could be another way to go. Some of these new recvrs also have 3d audio ?

Sure he was only 2 for 8. But one of those two was a deep pass to Decker for 56 yards. The Tebow just knows how to win.

I am tired of Tebow mania for a less than mediocre QB, think it's even worse than Favre mania, cannot wait till the dude is out of the NFL. Cannot remember the last time a QB with less than serviceable skills got this much love from fans and media.

I think both Yamaha and Sony are good choices. Might as well take a look at Denon and Onkyo too. It's not 3D audio per se. But 3D passthrough. Going back to our HDMI discussion, the latest version is 1.4. Meaning any new receiver you decide on should have that version. It will let you connect all your components, including a 3D capable blu-ray player to it and pass along the 3D video signal (if you so choose to go 3D). One of the biggest benefits, IMO, coming from a 12 year old receiver like you are, will be the addition of lossless audio codecs, e.g. DTS-MA HD and Dolby TrueHD.

The weekend was great, the Niners won again. :D

As for the fight, clearly Manny had an off night and Marquez did very well. However, IMO Manny did enough to win albeit unconvincing unlike his past few fights. Looks like Marquez is the only guy who is his real match (let's not talk about that other boxer who claims he's the best but keeps on making excuses not to fight Manny :p). Manny had more punches landed but Marquez had more damaging punches. The latter sticking with counter punches only. If he was more aggressive I think he would've won.

What do you guys think of onkyo HT-RC360, does anyone have one and could make a recommendation. Amazon is selling for 320.00 , sounds like a good deal. I can't spend anymore than 400 dollars, some of these high end receivers are over a thousand

Waboman doesn't know anything about AVR's, amps or TV's...

Someone just tells him it's something expensive and he simply buys it.

Pays someone to put it together for him.

I think he as a guy standing next to his chair that pushes the buttons on the remote for him. :D

I wish I could be of more help here. But like I said, it's been ages since I've looked at receivers. Have you checked out Sony, Yamaha and Denon? Another option might be to pursue the used market. Try Audiogon. You may be able to get a used higher end model at your price point.
