Do we even know why they are different colors? Is it for decoration - like an iPhone gelskin? Perhaps the color knob was a little loose? Remember Anakin dropped it a few times and it was long out of warranty.

Remember, Anakin built the lightsaber that was given to Luke (by Obi-wan) in Episode IV (ANH). In the prequels, that lightsaber has a blue glow. In the publicity and/or test stills from 1977 it has a blue glow:

It's akin to having Dirty Harry use a 45 Magnum during most of the movie but also show him using a 38 police special during certain scenes.

You really don't want to go there. Here's a publicity still, from Lucasfilm no less, circa 1977:

Artwork yes. Real movie still, no.

Please don't bring the whole 'pink' saber argument that Vader is supposed to have, and supposedly has always had argument back in, please.

dvdmike 08-30-2011 04:31 PM

There is NO argument as to the right Saber colours.
They were always different colours depending on what background they were comped against.

The issue that people should be concerned with is that Lucasfilm said they were all "FIXED"

Agreed.

Indeed. I can't find the two images right now. But all you have to do is compare the DVD image of the Han/Jabba scene with the Blu-Ray image from the same shot. The damage on the Falcon looks like dark black scorches. But on the Blu-Ray you can actually see the damage there.

Jumpman 08-30-2011 04:32 PM

dvdmike,

"Select shots" were fixed. I know what everyone assumed from that article but go back to what was stated..."select shots".

Big difference.

The Cheese Stands Alone

Quick, check George's notebook on Original Visions for the correct lightsaber color people. It's right there people if you would ever bother to look.

Jumpman 08-30-2011 04:33 PM

Beast,

Indeed. Compare the DVD image of the Han/Jabba scene and look at the dark masses on the body with the Blu-Ray image of the Han/Jabba scene where you can actually see the detail where the damage is.

Yep.

A lot of folks, just to f*#k with a bunch of nerds on a forum. :D:D:D

Speaking of nerds, I was the first post on page 1138!!!

But the shots they put out to sites do not match what is seen in the rips

rockin 08-30-2011 04:34 PM

The images posted from theforce.net obviously have some weird capture problems, look at the black bars of the blu-ray images - you can see a brightness problem. Then look at the more recent ones from the actual rips, and the brightness is normal/the same as it was before.

Ernest Rister 08-30-2011 04:35 PM

Has anyone seen Yoda in Empire yet?

Oh...1138.

Elandyll 08-30-2011 04:35 PM

What I do not understand is .. why such a commotion on "possible" changes (or lack thereof in some cases it seems) .. before the movies are re-released?

We won't even know what is true/ faithfully reproduced / really in until the release in two weeks...

No different than the Luke Skywalker promotional shot was my point...

dvdmike,

cheebo86, over at the boards of theforce.net, has stated that the shots on the rip DO line up with what Lucasfilm showed in that article. Read around...

That specific shot was fixed.

Jutty 08-30-2011 04:37 PM
