Seems like some are selling their George Lucas knee-pads... others are bedazzling them. :D

Still Thinking of Canceling Your Pre-Order?

As I've stated before...

Thinking of canceling your Pre-Order after all the "So-Called Alterations" and "Video Corrections"? Anyone? Anyone?

I am so proud to have made THIS thread, and have had my Pre-Order since JANUARY... but I for one am really disappointed in seeing someone take something that WORKED for over 30 YEARS and now try to "Sync" it with three prequels, just to get a solid story told in six episodes is just CRAZY!

Maybe we should all just sit-back, wait, and see what REALLY doesn't hit the NEW cutting-room-digital-floor. I have a feeling that many may cancel their orders just to hear from others what was newly added or adjusted, and then from there see if they are willing to fork over $90+ for a Box Set that can possible disappoint an entire generation of fans.

I for one am thinking of doing just this... maybe I'll continue my pre-order, view the "Changes" and decide from there if I really want to keep this Box Set

BTW : The DARTH VADER "NOOOOOO" (supposed) addition to ROTJ is... TRULY TERRIBLE. The less said at that moment by VADER the better.

Having DARTH VADER say anything makes DARTH VADER less of a SITH

Shame on you LUCAS if this is true.

EVERYONE KNOWS... CORRECTIONS IS ONE THING... ALTERATIONS IS AN ENTIRELY DIFFERENT THING

Celebrity berating of George Lucas:

Famous Star Wars fan Simon Pegg has been tweeting all day about the changes. He's particularly angry about the change to Vader's redemption saying "Always loved Vader's wordless self sacrifice. Another ****ty, clueless, revision like Greedo and young Anakin's ghost. What a ****ing shame."

Pegg went on to berate George Lucas for his frequent altering of the loved films: "I wonder if George Lucas will ever replace himself with CGI. He should do. He's a muppet."

I have "recently" become a Simon Pegg fan, and without him knowing (of course), appreciate his take / loyalty for the UOT and are too suprised that he would come out and say / tweet anything that hasn't been proven, yet stated everywhere in our digital world as we know it, over and over and over again.

I'm still skeptical but I'm hoping that what we've seen or heard would be accounted for as "fake" or if "real" would be added to only a "Special Features" disc and not a finished film product.

I believe that if we don't hear from Mr. George Lucas by SEP 12th (1 Week Away), maybe during a "Grand Premier / Blu-Ray Release" (like the one done for SCARFACE) then, by then, at least half of "Middle Earth" will be begging / cringing / praying on their knees in hopes for the best

Uh oh. He's going to start binge eating again. We'll have "fat" Kevin Smith back :)

I have not cancelled my pre-order and I'm not going to just because of the changes. It's star wars on blu-ray after all.

and?

Who said anything about being more or less of a fan?

There's a few films that scream home theater. A few films everyone thinks of when you think of "spectacles" for the home theater.

T2, Aliens, Jurrasic Park and the Star Wars trilogy.

These are the films that got a lot of people into home theater to begin with. Of course people with home theaters want the very best looking and sounding version of these films in particular.

I'm not saying any other film or franchise is less deserving. But of course these films are going to bought in mass by the home viewing public.

I find it hard to believe you are not just being coy. This seems like a pretty basic understanding of anyone remotely interested in home theater. It's why we have blu-ray. It's why we had Laserdisc as long as we did.

I'm not even voicing an opinion on the changes. I'm simply saying, it should be obvious why "just stick with the dvds" is a bitter pill to swallow for people whom are both huge fans of a films theatrical presentation and modern home theater equipment.

You tend to keep saying this jumpman and I will finally chime in. A non anamorphic version of these films exist. That means that you have really only have about 350 lines of resolution on a 480p format. So you are all ready losing a ton of resolution. Now on a 32" screen, that isn't that big of a deal. Now blow it up onto a 50" and you start seeing the limitations.

Now take my setup 126" 2.40 screen w/lens. 350 line image and blowing it up with processing and a lens to 1080p, the image looks worse than VHS and is lack of a better word, unwatchable.

So quit saying that we all have options, some of us don't!

Maybe Kevin Smith won't care.

They looked fine line doubled projected back in the LD days.

Why's that? This isn't some silly Lucas vanity side-project, it's the only version of the movie I can buy. Lucas deserves every bit of scorn he gets as long as he continues to willfully antagonize fans of the films.

Good for Pegg, not many high-profile movie industry types would dare burn that bridge.

I don't know why more celebrities don't come out and slam Lucas for it. What are they afraid of? That they won't be cast as one of the voices on Clone Wars? It's not like Lucas makes movies any more. He claimed to be so sick of the Star Wars universe and that he can't wait to get back to making smaller films.

Guess that was a lie as well....

Welcome back ken, found the way out of your bunker OK? Might just want to get back in again :D

I can just see the Lucasfilm response:

Due to the overwhelmingly negative response from the leaked footage Lucasfilm and 20th century fox have decided to cancel this release till further notice..
Don't do this to me Lucas, I have waited forever for this..
This had better not happen.:angry::angry::angry:

yes and VHS looked fine back then to most people as well.

56k used to be a fast speed for the internet.

That was a long time ago. If you can get a better looking version of "Time Cop" , it should be telling.

I would not wish that on those who are (for whatever reason) fine with the changes.

But I would not weep either.
