George just loves to throw sh*t on the screen like a child waving for attention, I'm glad he was forced to have restraint back in the day otherwise I can guarantee we wouldn't have the Star Wars we love.

Also the change to Jabba's door now leaves a plot hole in the form of, when Luke enters the palace, the door is back to its normal size.

In other news: the sky is blue, water is wet...and Ricky Martin is gay.

We'll be right back with sports...

Article from The NY Times:

Quote:

It’s an event that seems to happen in the “Star Wars” world about as often as Wookiees celebrate Life Day, and which fans await with just as much dread. New versions of George Lucas’s space-fantasy films are released, and with them come changes to the movies – alterations to audio and video, characters’ actions and even dialogue that is very different from what fans remember seeing in theaters a long time ago and far, far away.

So it goes for the latest editions of the six “Star Wars” live-action features that are being prepared for a Blu-ray home video release on Sept. 16. Previously, it was reported that the version of “Star Wars – Episode I: The Phantom Menace” included in this release would replace the puppet version of the Yoda character with a computer-generated creation. Then on Tuesday, an online report by Devin Faraci suggested a revelation almost as troubling as the news that Luke and Leia had been brother and sister all along: in a climactic scene from “Return of the Jedi,” when Darth Vader hurls the evil Emperor to his demise on the Death Star, he would now shout “No!” (In all previous versions of “Jedi,” Vader has committed this crucial deed in silence.)

On Wednesday, a press representative for Lucasfilm confirmed that this change will be included in the Blu-ray release, writing in an e-mail: “Yes — Darth says NO.”

Though it may sound like a minor detail among the millions in the “Star Wars” movies, this alteration has not sat well with many admirers of the film franchise. Among the angered fans is Simon Pegg, the “Shaun of the Dead” star and geek-culture icon, who wrote on his Twitter account that he always “loved Vader’s wordless self sacrifice” and called the change a “clueless revision.”

Technically, that's a continuity error, not a plot hole.

No, there is a complete rip (available in 720p and 1080p) of the OT with plenty of changes:

- ANH: new rock in front of R2, new Krayt dragon sound, Millenium Falcon lightsaber scene (barely) tweaked, Humdinger glitch fixed;

- TESB: Wampa's arm fixed;

- ROTJ: new entrance door for Jabba's place, a Dug (Sebulba's species) can be seen inside Jabba's place, Ewok eyes that blink, Vader/Luke lightsaber cross fixed, Vader says no;

- new 6.1 audio mixes for all 3 films.

Could it be that these rips aren't from the retail discs, but maybe something older? Some of the groups include a proof.jpg (a picture of the actual retail disc, in hand) to prove the source was legit. To the folks who have downloaded: have you seen any proofs after you unRARed?

No, because the last thing they fixed (humdinger glitch) is fixed in the video.

That's s good point. One thing this leak definitely can't be is an old Blu-ray master from Lucasfilm. It's either the real deal, or the prank to rule them all :)

Have we seen a screen cap of that yet??? That is just stupid....

With this, it's put up or shut up time for the fanbase. People have been washing their hands of Star Wars for years, only to come back to the ranks.

Is this the line in the sand?

So it's true. Really, really true.

Frak off, George. :rant:

I'm finally, at long last, joining the Unaltered Original Trilogy Camp.

Oh! Thank the maker!
Now we can stop the bickering on the legitimacy of the leak. Now, where were we on Artoo's rock dilemma? How did he get in? Or more importantly, why didn't they add a scene where he uses explosives to get out!?

Dude he couldnt even fit through there so obviously he didnt go that way, its a movie im sure he got out sameway he got in probably another entrance.

Personally i think this is all marketing, bad marketing but still marketing. I saw this on the news and my grandpa said "star wars is on blu ray?" So this is actually belive it or not getting more pl involved then before. Wait till everyone knows and thrn Lucas will come out and say its fake. Any leaks is impossible trust me if Lucas was that dumb TPM would have been leaked long before it hit theaters.

While the changes annoy me to no extent, I will still be buying Star Wars on Blu-ray.
