Nope. That has it as well.

SW has only "Star Wars" in the opening crawl on the LE DVDs. TESB & ROTJ have "Episode V" & "Episode VI" in the opening crawl.

Yes. In the trailer you will also notice he changed the shot of the Rebels leaving Hoth, one of the escort X-wings is destroyed when they try to break to pass the blockade with the first transport etc.

So it's not a UOT ;)

It was never meant to be. Revisited isn't a series of restorations. They're "special editions" if you will.

Incorrect. The only place to find that is on the documentary.

The "bonus discs" have the laserdisc masters which DEFINITELY had Episode 4 in it.

I own the 2006 LE DVDs and it does not have the Episode IV crawl. I'll post a screenshot. Wait a minute.

Edit: Here you go.

This is the only change that they did for the LE Discs. They removed Episode IV from the crawl.

Wrong. That was a selling point of the DVDs. Something along the lines of owning them as they originally played in the theaters in '77, '80, and '83.

Really? Well that's just freakin' stupid.

My apologies BladeRunner!!! :(

BladeRunner2007 09-03-2011 12:31 PM

No need to apologize :) BTW, which laserdisc master did they use for the LE DVDs? Was it the '93 or '95 master?

There is no 95 master. There was only the 93 that they re-used for the 95 (and the 2006 dvd's).

I watched The Phantom Menace BD just now. I thought the PQ was excellent in some parts, but inconsistent in others. The CGI is mostly very sharp & detailed, but in some scenes, live elements, actors in particular, are softer, making the CGI so obvious it becomes distracting. I thought Jar Jar Binks sticks out as an eyesore now even more than I ever remember.

AQ was superb. The Pod Race scene on loud volume, wow, what an insanely agressive soundtrack. Spectacular low end.

CRS, I have a really important question for you. I have two friends that are hard of hearing. They want to buy the set but they want to know if the extras are subtitled. If they extras aren't, they don't want to buy the set with the extras.

I really appreciate your answer to this question.

Thanks!

I've got good news for you. Atleast on the North European set, all extras are subitled in English. I can't guarantee the same applies for the US set, but it won't surprise me if the disc contents are identical.

All commentaries (two for each movie) are subtitled in English as well as the other languages that have subtitles in the movie.

Interestingly, the commentaries actually each have two different English subtitle tracks, one track that subtitles the speech, and one track that identifies the various participants. Kind of odd they couldn't just combine the two (as the names are displayed on top of the screen) but that's how it is.

All three bonus discs have English subtitles.

Hope that helps! :)

Really? I thought they did a new THX master for the '95 laserdisc release.

Which scenes in particular were excellent and inconsistent? did you notice any changes (except some cleaned up effects and the CGI Yoda)

Have you watched episode 2 and 3 yet?

hedliniv 09-03-2011 12:48 PM

NO! - Canceled my amazon gold box order. Someday the original trilogy will be released properly. Today is not the day unfortunately...:(

Thanks for the heads up on this :) I watched ROTJ yesterday and was amazed by how good it actually looked - for a '93 laserdisc master. I'd say it looked even "stunning" - again for a '93 LD master.

Generally, dimly lit scenes had softer details on live elements. CGI didn't mix too well in some of these scenes. Bright lit scenes were more often than not, superb, and the CGI was much less obvious, if at all, here. I'm not a reviewer though, so take my opinion for what it is.

I'm not the biggest Star Wars fan, it's probably 10 years since I last saw The Phantom Menace, so to be honest, I couldn't and didn't pay attention to or look for differences.

Awesome, especially on the AQ!! Can't wait to experience this myself!

Good news about the subtitles too, hopefully it'll be the same on North American discs.

Look forward for the rest of your report. :)

I think he mentioned that he don't have the means to do that, maybe he don't own a BD-ROM drive.

I see. But thanks for sharing your oponion on the disc :)

People talks a lot about color timing but was Hoth always blue? Or is it completely white in the OUT?
