I completely agree with you. The bottom pic looks like somebody just took away his cookie. :(

These changes do not bother me one bit. I like the originals but I'm comparing the blu-rays to the 1997 versions, as I did with the DVDs. And compared to the 1997 versions, the DVDs and blu-rays are an amazing improvement.

I try to skip over everyone's complaining posts because until the original versions get released on a new format (I can still hope), there is no comparing the blu-rays to original versions; be it color timing, added effects, sound effects.

And I really am a fan of the original. I hated seeing Jabba the Hut appear in ANH; I felt it made him less intimidating in ROTJ. I hated the new musical number in Jabba's palace. But like I said, I can only see them as changes as updates being made to the 1997 versions. And sometimes, I pop in the 2006 bonus discs and enjoy those as well.

An odd post. You're curious what the reviewers think, so you want people who haven't laid eyes on the disc to ballpark it for you

Got to agree with a lot of the resident apologists here for once (I know, I´m having difficulty believing it myself), George Lucas would have to be totally insane to replace puppet Yoda in ESB and ROTJ with a digital Yoda, not to mention that it would require him spending some money, so that would make it a definate no no.

I never really noticed how bad the PT yoda looks when you compare it to the OT yoda. That is really amazing!

I guess we will have to disagree on the yoda getting cgi'ed into the OT. I just really wouldn't put it past Lucas to do anything now. The small changes I understand, Wicket's blinking give him some sort of life, etc, Now changing dialogue to the climax of a 3 part movie? He is not right in the head.

I can see it now. A cgi yoda sitting in his hut drinking a Pepsi (w/logo)....

His neck was too big to fit, so they cut him out of the picture.

Yoda will end up completely CG. It's just a matter of time. Even if he deems it too expensive to do for the forseeable future - at the very least, he'll put it in his will for his daughter to carry out (along with a long list of other changes to be sprinkled into the trilogy throughout her lifetime).

Casey Broadwater will be doing the review. To do a thorough review of all of this stuff will probably take several days, so if he gets it on Monday or Tuesday before the release date, I'm guessing the review probably won't be up until Wednesday or Thursday. Hopefully he will get it earlier, and work day and night to get it up sooner. :ohnoes:

I like how Lucas is painted in amongst the other villains. ;)

Very nice find, but I've already e-mailed Lucasfilm about buying a print of the whole thing (since some of the characters look cropped off). Since its Labor Day weekend, I'm not expecting any answers until next week...but you can be sure I'll post here, once I find out! :)

I am beginning to think the same thing. We are getting to that point anyway.

I have no doubt that we will see not only more SW films in the future, made by other filmmakers, but indeed remakes. Everything gets remade, even when it's unnecessary. There are at least 3 versions of The Ten Commandments, all of them now on Blu, a few versions of The Wizard of Oz. Even the ancient Beowulf gets redone every few years. Hopefully I'm still around when these 6 films are remade in the future. I'm curious to see what another director and writers could do with this material.

I'll probably be shot down for this but I find the puppet hilariously fake and would celebrate the day it becomes CGI.

And yet there´s method to his madness as far as the Vader dialogue change is concerned. Yes, adding the ´no´, then ´no......................!´ is awful and cringeworthy, especially the cheesy way its delivered with that echo effect, but one can see what George is thinking, even if its flawed reasoning and totally unnecessery, even going so far as to greatly undermine the power of the scene as it originally was (one of the best/most iconic scenes in the entire trilogy, perfect as it was IMO).

He´s trying to create symmetry between the PT and OT by having both trilogies end with Anakin/Vader going ´No................................!´, linking OT Vader to PT Vader and emphasising that they´re the same person. I know, its like storytelling 101, emphasising a point that is already obvious, but in George´s mind it was absolutely necessery

There´s no reason that I can see for changing puppet Yoda into digital Yoda. It would be expensive and for no real purpose. That´s why I think George will never do it, however nuts he may seem to us now.

It's one thing when he starts messing up ROTJ and even ANH, but ESB is different. It's the hallowed one, maybe b/c Lucas did not write it or direct. The less he messes with it the better. The extra vader scene added already was not needed.
