During the duel between Vader and Ben, some lightsaber shots have been improved.

Why they chose only certain ones is beyond me, because we're now left with blades being vibrant red and blue in one shot, then duller in the next, back to vibrant and so forth...

Also, there was an issue in 1997 where no effect was applied to Ben's saber for a shot. In 2004 pale blue was basically painted over the saber, no white core. This shot has not been corrected. :(

Oh, I assumed it would be pretty bad. I guess we should be happy that they didn't do a 4k transfer because the crappy 2k version hid a bunch of the problems with the movie.....:D:D

Personally, if we had the GOUT, I would take all the mistakes, the crappy matte lines, that scoundrel Han killing Greedo, the whole enchilada.....:D

The grains looks very odd and blotchy - almost digital. I don't like Lowrey's work.

I think I'll turn the colour down on this release and just watch the bloody things in black & white! It worked wonders for Fellowship.... and I can turn down the sound completely at the end of Jedi.

Hopefully for the next release Lucas won't add one of those little digital displays you see in the backs of cars on Vader's chest.

"How am I driving?"

"I'm sorry but that display is upside down.... and on fire, maybe that's an indication of how you're driving?"

I think this release has broken my brain. I don't know whether to laugh or cry. At least people aren't complaining about those cardboard sleeves scratching the discs anymore but to be fair the set hasn't been released yet....

Agreed. Almost enhanced.

Does that look like natural grain to you?? I am not a grain hater, please don't confuse me with that crowd. I think that the use of a 2k master makes grain almost "enhanced". 4k captures so much more information that grain is intact. Just an opinion of mine....:o

Yeh, it's really strange that they would brighten up a couple of shots so the cores look more vibrant, yet they still leave Obi-Wan with his purple lightsabre in a couple of shots, that was never a problem before 2004.

Just noticed the BDs play the THX logo after the movies. Why couldn't Fox put them at the start. What a pity. Love how my old LDs started with that impressive oomph.

Don't take this the wrong way but you two can't be serious, can you?

Has there ever been a high profile release where grain didn't come up?

For that matter, has there ever been any release where grain didn't come up?

Seriously? You want me to be serious in a thread where people claim their lifes are over or their childhood ruined because some dude in Hollywood is making changes to movies? :D

Look I understand all this is very important for some people but you can't denied me my little jokes now and then? I am usually a good boy :D

Look in the circle on this image. Does that look normal? Maybe my computer screen sucks....

You're right, a big white oval shaped circle in the middle of that seen does not look normal at all!

Yeah, I honestly have no idea what they are talking about in regards to blotchy grain. Looks great and normal to me. Though I'm still disappointed that they did not simply give us prequel-quality lightsabers for IV-VI. It would be very easy.
