I thought that I posted this.
But doesn't Lucas not show the untouched OT because his wife gets a cut from the divorce? So as long as he alters it, she doesn't get shit. |

Do the non-anamorphic DVDs of the OT look that bad? I'm thinking of picking them up. :o

Plus I don't have to change massive platters to watch the films. Though I never watch those cuts really. I prefer the newer versions of the films. |
Beast,
Totally agree about the Boba Fett cartoon. I'd love to see the Star Tours ride footage included as well since it has been retired. |
This thread just needs to be locked up and a new one started about one week before release,:p. It's already out of control on here and it's been alittle over 24 hours since they have been announced!
I wish people could be as happy about the announcement as I am! These are my favorite movies of all time and my holy grail blu-ray's. I grew up on these movies and yes I do wish he would have also included the original original trilogy on the set but I also really like most of the changes to the special editions. If he just would have included the original versions then 99.99% of the bad talking on this thread wouldn't be on here, sigh..... C'mon people..Its STAR WARS..on BLU-RAY!!!!!!!!!!!:rock::rock::rock::rock: |

The first time though was an absolute thrill! |
Two questions:
1. Will they be packaged in episode order (I-VI) or in release order (IV-VI then I-III)? I'd imagine the former and not the latter. 2. Which sequence will you watch them? I'll probably go in release order as I enjoyed the original trilogy better. |
It's like an episode of Crossfire in here.

Huge news for Blu-ray. While this isn't a day one purchase for me, it's still pretty exciting news. I'll probably end up waiting for a really good price on all six or hold out for the release of just the OT. The more I watch the prequels the less they do for me. I was a huge fan of Star Wars growing up, but the exclusion of the original original trilogy hasn't been that big of a deal for me . . . the only thing that bothers me about them is the awful CG work in the additions (Han stepping on Jabba's tail looks like it was done with paper dolls) and Greedo shooting first is kinda dumb (CG work there sucks too) but . . . oh well. I'm very excited to see how they turn out. The DVDs were amazing at the time they were released, so I'm expecting that same level of quality. Hopefully Indiana Jones isn't too far off!

I for one am very excited to watch Star Wars on Blu ray, no matter which version they release, But this is like watching a movie with a brief trailer saying nothing about it, then we wait for two Years just to watch it , only we know what we are watching.
If you are going to release the cultural milestone on blu ray, make sure you don't use "major digital manipulation to affect the look" on it Lucas. If you cannot bring the treatment for real home theater enthusiasts to savor, (This is just wishful thinking) give the golden goose to Criterion with the original goose :whip:. Better yet, (More wishful thinking) why not make two versions, one Lucas made distributed by Fox (Special Edition) with all he wants to do with it, and a Criterion Collection remastered (Theatrical cut) form a high quality 35mm print and original Dolby stereo analog track. Sure this isn't going to have the multichannel audio or be as clean as say the way Lucas does (and would likely cost more), but it will look as it should, the way we seen it at theaters. Maybe I'm just preaching to the fans that watched it originally, but just some wishful thinking. |
That's my kinda wishful thinking. :)
