Hi Merlinpants
In OT deleted scenes, ROTJ, can you review the one called "Battle of Endor: The Lost Rebels". It is credited with more than 9 minutes of footage.
What is it? Is there space battle in it? More B-Wings?

Thx a lot:)

Ok, the intro slide says:
This lost footage includes rebel pilots who never made the final cut. Oddly, one of the female pilots did make it into the film, but was voiced over by a man. There is additional action featuring the Millenium Falcons support crew. Footage of General Madine as the rebel leader was shot just in case the puppet of Admiral Ackbar did not look convincing.

[Show spoiler]Starts with black and white footage of female pilot in cockpit only being rocked about repeating lines being shouted by someone with a loud hailer.

Then a different woman doing the same thing in the same cockpit.

Then a nien nunb character in a helmet, must be in the falcon, again repeating lines shouted through a loud hailer.

Then the Ackbar character doing the same in a helmet and green top.

Footage of rebel troops getting into the gun positions of the falcon, Nien nunb character (not him, same species) fixing a panel on the falcon. Rebel trooper fixing under the floor of the falcon. Lots of people running through falcon corridors with no sound. Troops handing out guns?

No exterior shots at all, no ships, no external fighting shots.

Trooper in Falcon gun chair and different person shown in second chair. Lots of flashes, sliding around in chairs.

Then footage of Madine doing the scenes of Ackbar, word for word, move for move.

Very cool.

Ok Thank you for the report!:)
So no space battle shots? (Edit: Ok I was refreshing...)
Is there any dialogues and /or music (appart for Madine)

No space shots, no music and the dialogue is just the people repeating the lines being shouted at them.

The woman voiced by a man in the actual film is the A wing pilot who crashes into the super star destroyer bridge. Who knew??????

koreyman 09-09-2011 06:39 PM

Amazon has it $79.99

Post 30086 beat you to it ;)

..and in goes empire, c'mon:D

The good news, Hoth is white again ;)

..and the black triangle of doom that has caused outrage on the wampa's arm. Blinked and I missed it LOL. Seriously, too much hating about everything to do with this set turns out to be absolutely nothing unless you watch the whole film frame by frame.

ahossein79 09-09-2011 06:50 PM

I might plunk down the extra $10 to get the free t-shirt at best buy, hopefully they will price match for me, also I could get the set for $83.99 at Barnes and noble plus my membership discount which be the cheapest and if I get lucky enough to get a coupon I could get the set for a great price. However I know this sounds childish and stupid but I am freakin annoyed that U.S. consumers get this set on a Friday when everyone gets this on the 12th, I don't like Friday release dates, they are pretty ****ing annoying release things on Tuesdays that way I get to watch it before the weekend hits. Lastly Star Wars is not Harry Potter it is a more popular American series, it would make more sense if Europe got Harry Potter earlier than us, as much as people hate to admit Harry Potter is just not nearly as popular here in the states than it is in Europe!

I always thought that didn't seem like a man, now we know! :) haha

Thanks for all the awesome tidbits! :D

(and thanks everyone for the Amazon.com replies!) :)

I've only seen the OT disc one, it is a fly though the grounds of skywalker ranch which is cool. You go through a covered bridge and along a road up to a blue barn. The door slides up to reveal......................EVERYTHING. Seriously, this guy kept the lot. It doesn't last long but you go through the warehouse with glimpses of props and costumes dovetailed with voices and lines from the film that match the prop. Really cool the first time you watch ;) Little repeat value though unless you want to show your friends where George actually lives. It is huge.

You know, I have been checking these boards for some time now searching for the only information that many people want: 1. How is the image? The answer seems to be good for the age on the original and very good on prequels, 2. How is the sound? I can imagine this answer. Finally (and really the thing that most people really want to know) 3. What has been changed or fixed? All we seem to know at this point is that Yoda is digital in TPM, the Ewoks blink, Obi-Wan sounds stupid, and Vader yells "no." I am surprised that there are not details of a full list of tweaks. I find it very troubling that at this late date there is not more information. I do not care to debate why so-and-so does not disappear, why Luke sees ghost Anakin, or such nonesense. I want to know how they look, sound, and have been modified. I am also not looking to debate why it is done or even if it should be done. To quote Dragnet, I want "just the facts."

This ought to help for prequel tweaks:

The website isn't responding right now, but they also have a full list of OT changes.

wow, the see-through speeder cockpits are really obvious in HD. They tried to fix them in '97, but you can still see shadows and walker legs through them in places. Really obvious when wedge does a flyby at one point.

But do you know what, I like it, It shows these were from a time before all the CGI trickery and that this was the work of craftsmen at the top of their game, fixing problems that couldn't be fixed. It is what the OT should be, a good old fashioned look at films as they were in their time.

Steelmaker 09-09-2011 07:16 PM

Now that Lucas has replaced TPM puppet Yoda with the CGI version, who here thinks that one day he will do the same with the OT puppet? Maybe not completely but perhaps digitize the head/face to have the same level of articulation that he has in the PT? How would you feel about a change like that?

I wouldn't like it, but I can definitely see him doing that at some point. He wants as much consistency between all 6 films.
