Hit the return button and after a few quick questions, they'll email you a return label for your current shipping box and the new set is sent immediately. You can keep watching your current set while the other is on the way. They usually give you 30 days to get the original one back to them and they give you the choice of home pickup, drop box, or shipper location dropoff. Besides, when the other set gets there, you can go through it and swap out your bad discs with good ones before shipping a set back to them. You'll also have plenty of time to watch the nine discs before you need to have the set back. That way, you can confirm there are no other flaws.

Yes, I've gone though this before. ;)

Wow, thanks for the info. I was assuming the process would entail printing a shipping label, finding a box to put it in, shipping it out, waiting for them to receive it, confirm there is an issue, then shipping out a replacement. I guess I am traumatized by an awful RMA experience with Asus.

Hearing 10 year-old Jake Lloyd's enthusiasm in the Episode I archival commentary was very welcoming. I was surprised he was included. And, he's very articulate.

Good morning one and all!

So who stayed up all night?

I stop last night after watching The Empire Strikes back. I will probably watch Return, Phantom & Attack today and try to finish up the bonus features. Last time I spend so much time on a set was back when the originals were release on DVD :)

Thanks for the kind words regarding my set-up. I sold my Krell 250/2 CD player some years ago after I received my first upgraded (modified) Denon 5910 CD/DVD/SACD player which performed better than the Krell. For CD I normally run a newer upgraded (modified) Denon 5910CI though an upgraded (modified) Lavry DA10 DAC. I expect to have new photos uploaded into the gallery after I take receipt of the upgraded hybrid Ampex 440C/B R2R tape deck around September 29 or 30. The photos will show the new upgraded (modified) Onkyo 5508 and the rearrangement and replacement of the components in the racks.

You're definitely not the first. Two of mine have this problem. I gently touched the chipped paint and more flaked off. Will be exchanging mine at Best Buy in the morning, very disappointing!!!

Just checked all my discs, and fortunately no faults.

Does it seem like the packaging is to blame, or is it manufacturing defects ?

Episode 1 is the best it has ever looked but it has been scrubbed clean of detail.
Episode 2 the sharpness has been wiped away. It looks like someone changed all the reds to a cranberry juice color.
Episode 3 looks good

Episode 4 looks good, some minor color issues
Episode 5 major color issues poor image quality
Episode 6 resolution jumps from really good to really bad

Episode 5 and 6 look as though they need another restoration.

TPM : video - 8/10 , audio - 11/10 :D

AOTC: video - 8.75/10, audio - 11/10 :D

I did throw in ROTS for a few minutes to check out the audio, and wow, what a disappointment. It's exactly how I remembered it being in the theaters - lifeless and underwhelming, especially coming off a double-feature of Menace and Clones. I'll have to watch Sith in it's entirety, but from what I've heard so far, the audio on Episode III is an 8/10 at best, and that's a generous "8". I have to disagree with Casey and Bill Hunt's score on that one.

There's a reason why Sith is the only SW film NOT to be nominated for an Oscar in the sound dept..

Sith did not have the same mixer that ep.1/2 had which is why it falls flat vs the other two films and sounds out of place.

Oh well, it's not Citizen Kane, its only Star Wars.

That is such a trivial thing compared to what we are talking about happens in Empire, it's the biggest plot point in Star Wars.

I don't see how it could be the packaging. The problem seem to be that the labels just kind of chip off. It's a somewhat common thing with CDs and DVDs. I have had CD-RWs that did the same thing over time, have heard of it happening several times.

Watched all of the OT deleted scenes. It's a pity that no effort was made to make them flow, or edit them, add music or anything. They just dumped the raw footage on the discs. At least it's in HD, though. Another complaint: A bunch of stuff seems left out. Luke's Bacta mask, the complete Wampa stuff (Han's conversation with the rebels regarding the dead tauntaun, which I think was in the storybook), I imagine a lot of other stuff, recall seeing some youtube videos with stills and whatnot of tons of deleted stuff from the trilogy. Oh, well...maybe a future release will see more stuff.

The interesting thing about watching these films in HD is that you see seams of all the manipulation that's gone into all the films, whether is puppets, props, old school matte paintings, digital matte paintings, rotoscoping, etc., etc.

You could nitpick these films completely apart just based on all the manipulation involved...but that's what it takes to get the beauty of these worlds and designs.

It kind of nice to see the seams actually.

That's probably the one thing I don't like about Blu-ray. You lose some of the magic. Likely that's what George was talking about in that quite about being againt HD.

Good - Star Wars >>>>>>> Citizen Kane anyways. ;)

I know what you are saying.... but its not really that big of a deal. I still think the "right" order to watch the films in is the release order. This time we are doing them chronolgically. Anyone who has never seen them needs to watch them 4,5,6,1,2,3. After a few times that way, experiment and see what ya like.

Hmmm.... You mean extended editions? I didnt think such things existed. Interesting.

I doubt he payed for the art. You can find lots of custom cover art all over the net and on this very forum. Just use some high quality, glossy paper for a nice finish.

The 6 disc case will knock you back about $5 http://www.pcx.com.au/ProductDetail.aspx?ProductId=1456

I need to see if anyone has done 3 separate covers for three 3-pack cases. That's how I'd like to split it up.

Can anyone confirm this video glitch for me?

Flick to the Binary Sunset scene and focus on the right side screen. On my copy, a thin line (about half a centimetre wide on my 32-inch screen) appears on the edge of the frame, and it switches from black to white, and then just before the scene ends, you can actually see the frame shifting left and right.

Can't believe they didn't do new scans. A New Hope is the only one with gate weave/judder too.

solarrdadd 09-17-2011 12:59 PM

picked up my copy at BB yesterday, cashed in 25 in reward zone bucks and walked out with the complete saga, and a shirt for $54.99; oh and I got a temp test setup for my 7 channel setup in my new place just in time so, yeah, i'm happy :D

It seems to play, though. What I will probably do is put a piece of tape over where it's chipping and hope it'll work OK. Returning this to amazon sounds like a big headache.

I suggest everybody check their discs, I am not the first person to have this problem.

Well, thank god that only happened to your AOTC disc. I mean, if you had to pick the ONE disc out of 9...

I have a Magnavox, about 2 years old. Great player. I discovered that the icon DOES go away, but during Ratatioulli, it comes back and then leaves again. Keeps that up.

I've noticed it at the beginning of Star Wars adn then it goes away, never to return. (whew) But yeah, it's the ALTERNATE ANGLE icon.

Not sure if this has been brought up or not but the ugly-looking Yoda puppet can be seen at the end of Return of the Jedi in ghost form with Obi-Wan and Anakin (Hayden version). Curious to know why they didn't edit this out of the film like they did in TPM.
