The way I see it is: If we got the original releases, would I watch them? Yes, but probably only once. I'd probably watch his updated versions over the originals for the sole reason when I watch them, they are all as close to perfect as the series continuity is going to get. Sure there are still plot holes, but overall, it's the closest the series will ever be to being correct in George Lucas' mind. And if thats the way he wants the series to be, then that's how I'm going to watch it. No harm, no foul. Just a good time watching what I the second greatest movie series of all time :)

I agree with your post except for 1 thing: 2nd greatest movie series of all time?? :jawdrop:   :confused2: :yikes: :melodrama:  :shakefist: :p :D ;)

Surely you want to rethink your statement. ;)

Coming from the biggest fanboy on here that's not surprising.

And I'd humbly suggest that you don't look down on those who prefer the original (and better) versions

1. Good for ya! :)

2. That I am! :)

3. I don't look down on anyone. If you prefer the originals, then that's perfectly fine by me, but to call those who like the refined versions better "loose screws" is just uncalled for, don't you think?

rexcrk 10-17-2010 01:13 PM

If they released both versions, I'd most likey watch the original versions most of the time, like if I was watching 4-6, but if I was doing 1-6 then I'd watch the updated versions.

Haha second greatest behind Back to the Future, which for me is the most consistent and entertaining movie series over all :) But it doesn't win by too much ;)

Nice...to know of a popular title I have no intention of picking up. Of course the originals wouldn't be there, and it's nice to have that confirmation. Pretty much a no-sale for sure now.

If the rumored date of 10/15/11 is right, at least we're finally under a year away. :D

Bet we see pre-orders around February.

RudyC 10-18-2010 05:51 AM

any word if they are releasing 3 box sets?

you know like the 1-6 box
the 1-3 box and the 4-6 box

i say this because i dont want 4-6 if they are not the originals... id rather watch my laserdiscs.

Keep in mind that if you do this you're going to miss out on the awesome scene that makes no sense whatsoever between Han and Jabba where Jabba looks like he was created by a college student learning programming, so think really hard about that.

Lol either would be fine.:) Come on Naysayers! even you must admit you love a bit of GL Poop. ;)

Here's a question though. As Attack of the Clones was cut in the U.K for a trivial Jango Fett headbutt will the Blu's be cut also? If so i'm importing!

Most likely. Unless things have changed in the UK.

Bluyoda 10-18-2010 09:05 PM

2 things:

1. Actually the thing I want George to change the most are the beech forest scenes on Naboo, as that takes me out of the movie a bit. Beeches on such a beautiful planet, please?!?

2. Who of you is not going to watch the Star Wars Saga again until the BDs are released?

I think I'll wait, as the DVDs suck anyway, most of all TPM (edge enhancement, softness, grainy/noisy). :D

You'll also miss the Hayden Christenson at the end of Return of the Jedi. Nobody should be deprived of that awesomeness.

Okay, so there'll be a 2D and 3D version. But is that any different to what every other studio or film maker is doing who have 3D versions of films. And the 3D versions are going to be some years off. We only know a planned release date for TPM at the moment. So should GL be hanging back with SW just because he's planning to release a 3D version.

Get real!

The 3D version can effectively be considered a different format anyway.

This guy just can't get through a day without someone knocking him down for doing nothing more than what anyone else is doing.

You are severely misunderstanding what I'm saying. I am not trashing George Lucas at all... At least it's not my intention. Instead of using the term MILKING, I should have simply said that I doubt G.L. will ever be totaly satisfied with or stop reworking his baby. I seriously doubt that a definitive set would even be possible for that very reason. We're going to benefit with a lot of choices as to what versions we want or don't want to add to our collections. I'm actually one of the few who likes something about all the versions released so far. I am also one of the few who will admit that I like both the OT & PT equally. As far as I'm concerned, every version or set released will be a day one purchase for me.

I did say I would do the same thing if I were him.

Both scenes being excellent and welcome changes to the original films.

ChadFL 10-19-2010 05:03 AM

Sometimes I have to wonder if Lucas pays people to hang around online forums and defend his each and every move or do they just come naturally? In any case keep up the good work guys. You get the Baghdad Bob award for best spin of the year. The "Hayden Christenson is a welcome addition to Return of the Jedi" is a nice touch. ;)
