I felt the filtering and smoothing out on Phantom Menace worked well and was necessary to blend with Ep. II & III. Now, the prequels share the same "look."

Will the price of this ever go down? I'm thinking not, since it's Star Wars and all, but I want to get it before the price goes up...

Try a used book/video store. I got the entire UOT on DVD for $20.

Ironically the one prequel shot on film looks softer than the two shot digitally.

It's certainly not wax museum territory but they might have overdone it a bit.

They over denoising it. Too much encode just to get rid of grains and video noise.

I kinda wish they'd just said "screw it, who cares if it matches 2 & 3, let's just preserve the original quality of the film."

Since when is Lucasfilm known for opting to preserve the original quality?;)

Those who are discarding the box set are really missing out on some fantastic bonus material. I'm watching the deleted scenes now and it really adds a different dynamic to the viewing experience.

Right, I really want the Wampa scenes edited back into TESB. Just as much as the Droid Control Ship attack in AOTC, and the extended Order 66 scenes in ROTS. I'd also be interested in an alternate ANH cut, starting with Luke looking up in binocs and going to Anchorhead to 'waste time with his friends.'

I had forgotten all about the fate of General Veers. Would have been awesome to see him and his AT-AT walker bite the snow in the movie. I'am also one who has read the novel of TPM so it was nice to see the extra ramp battle with Qui Gon and Darth Maul.

KrugerIndustrial 11-24-2011 01:11 AM

So what's the cheapest price for the OT currently online?

TylerDurden 11-24-2011 02:26 AM

LOL just finished the spoofs. Those were hilarious! :D

The PT scenes you mention would be great, though the Wampa scenes felt rather unrealistic and you could really see why they left these scenes on the cutting room floor.

And those extra battlescenes (Space Battle, Duel of the Fates, Board ramp fight) of TPM would be interesting as they make the space battle a bit less about Ani and Duel of the Fates longer, which is always a good thing :p

If that were the case, this thread would probably be 200 pages instead of 2000, everyone would gush how consistent the lightsaber effects are, there would be a lot more happy fans, and we'd probably be watching the OUT...

Slaveknight 11-24-2011 01:42 PM

original quality of the film is ok but I love how Lucas tweak the whole thing. Me myself i grew up with star wars. so its awesome how he put the goods in cgi except for the "nooo" with vader. lol that was controversial though

So I had this pre-ordered until I found out that the original theatrical versions were going to be missing from the set. Are these still worth getting after Lucas has done all his unnecessary damage? The reason I am asking is because I have only seen the original movie, which I believe is # 4, and The Empire Strikes Back # 5. Believe it or not, I have not seen any of the other four movies.

Thanks

P.S. What makes someone a "Member," like me, as opposed to a "Power Member" or "Active Member," or, God forbid, a "Blu-Ray Samurai?"

This should help you out with that question.

I just bought the original trilogy for $30. I know I'm missing out on all the special features, but I rarely watch those. Since this isn't a must have movie set for me, I'm okay with these editions. I'll but the prequel set when it's at a good price.

MiC. HD 11-24-2011 07:19 PM

Man I'm really hoping the price on the complete saga drops!!! Come on Amazon, you're on a roll!
