Star Wars has been confirmed for Oct/Nov/Dec 2011 for months now.

The X-Files? who knows  maybe never sadly.

It was already announced for an October release of this year if I'm not mistaken. Here's the website:http://www.blu-ray.com/news/?id=4996

If this is a repeat, apologies in advance

Maybe they'll announce about the new live-action series, to be the first TV show natively shot with the current 3D camera. Panasonic could be their main sponsor.

Panasonic had Avatar (also from Fox) with them before the movie even came out to theaters, not just the current 3D blu-ray release.

Interesting idea, that would be awesome! Either way, I hope they get the live-action show on the road soon, we've been waiting since CIV I believe.

Also, this is my first post, Hello all!

This ain't an X-Files thread, but I'll just quickly add this about it-- for anyone that doesn't know this yet, the entire series was shot on film but mastered on standard-def video. That means to release it in HD, Fox would have to find all the original film elements, recut every episode from scratch, and possibly have to redo post-production effects. Is it possible? Perhaps. Likely? I'm not sure about that-- maybe it would have stood a better chance it that last X-Files movie didn't do so badly. Just FYI, Star Trek: The Next Generation is in the same boat.

If the star wars movies are getting 3D theatrical releases why would they release them on blu ray first in that format? Makes no sense. Also I don't think Lucas is that big of an ass to make everyone who wants the movies have to buy new equipment. Panasonic having an avatar exclusive is a little different than star wars. I'm sure people are getting along fine with the fact of not getting a 3D avatar just yet, but no star wars? Everyone would go nuts. if they do an exclusive people should just boycott it and stick it to George. Again i don't think he'd do something that dumb.

wow that is almost at the end of 2011.Why so long when star wars is a classic and movie not a TV show that is hard to do with most TV shows that have 20 per season.

Movies are easy to do has TV shows are hard to do and cost more money.

It wouldn't be SOLEY 3D. They would release a 3D Blu-ray version in addition to the normal Blus.

But I don't see it either, especially considering the plan to release all six films in 3D over the next decade and a half. Wouldn't that hurt those ticket sales? lol

I didn't think it would be only 3D either. 3D is too new and we all know how George likes to hold out. So i don't think there will be a 3D announcement at all.

That is an interesting thought, but I doubt it, since most everyone is eagerly awaiting details about the upcoming SW Saga BD release, not so much the live-action series.

Odd the announcement is at Panasonics booth though isn't it?

Yup, we all know George is gonna milk this for everything its worth. at anyone that thinks he's gonna give us 3d editions right off the bat.

Silly question...how do I insert an image?

Blu_Ray_Enthusiast 01-05-2011 10:31 AM

Bluray community: "He doesn't like you".

Panasonic Booth: "Sorry".

Me: "*I* don't like you either. You just watch yourself. We're wanted men. I have the death sentence on twelve systems".

Panasonic Booth: "I'll be careful then"

Bluray community: "You'll be dead"!

But seriously,i can see an announcement for 3d on the horizon

Well, I would think it might be something for the very distant future, like
2012, regarding the an exclusive 3D BRD release. FOX did an exclusive with Panasonic for Avatar, so dont think FOX will be an issue.

I say this only cause what sense would it make to have a 3D BRD relese the end of this year (instead of the standard BRD one) given that the movies start hitting theaters in 2012. Wouldnt that sabotage their own plans?

I would suspect we will get specs about the release at the end of the year, and a timing schedule for next years 3D in the theater releases and possibly an agreement to release them on BRD in a p-ship with Panasonic.

No matter what, people will be up in arms about something related to it.
