It's the fans own fault. They spend the last 2 months speculating, debating, saying they want this and want that and it will be epic and so on. They just say it's so much fun to specualte and to build expectation and blablabla.

I'm not really dispointed by the annoucement, myself, but I'm not terribly excited either.

I do think a more specific breakdown of what is included on discs 7 and 8 would be nice.

Instead of just "deleted scenes" and "extended scenes", for example, there could have been a more fleshed out specific list of them. I'd like to know what the "addtional content" (aka the "and more") is supposed to be.

The details of the 6 movie discs and the 9th disc with the documentaries are pretty well fleshed out. It would have been nice to see that with the other two discs.

Granted, sure, it would probably make for a very long list, but it would still be nice to get it in full detail.

My only disapointment is the lack of a listing for "Empire of Dreams". But for all that we know, that could be part of the "and more" of the OT bonus features disc. And if not, I still have my DVD, so it's not the end of the world.

But I can easily see where some might be disapointed with how vague some of the details are. For an annoucement proclaiming "all will be revealed", there is a lot of ambiguity in what was listed for those two discs in particular. So, I would say that anyone who is disapointed by that has good reason for feeling that way.

But as per usual the people who defend Lucas no matter what just chalk it up to absurd fan expectations. Got forbid that fans expect to receive all of the specific details on what will be included on the Blu-Ray set when they go to read an announcement that was advertied as "ALL will be revealed".

But in all fairness, we don't really have THAT much of a precident for that. Most of that is based on previous Laserdisc releases of the OT, which were a very niche market.

Not to mention that when the OT came out on DVD, it was pretty rushed and was given only one bonus disc, and most of the room on it was taken up by the Empire of Dreams documentary. So, there wasn't a ton of room for a lot of other bonus features beyond what was included.

As it stands, some of what is listed seems to indicate a carry over of some special features. For example, we seem to be getting deleted/extended scenes for all of the movies, and we already got those for the prequels on the DVD sets. So, your arguement goes right out the window there.

It would be one thing if there were several different DVD releases of the films with new features each time and without the old features being carried over. But we really haven't gotten that for the most part.

The closest thing was the bonus disc from the initial OT trilogy set was only ever available with that set. But then they made a set of just the 3 movies without the disc at a lower cost for those who don't care for extras. Then they made the individual versions with the UOT bonus discs, but that's a gray area at best. It wasn't like there was a bonus disc specific to each film, so included the one disc from the Trilogy set would have been difficult. Then there's the digipack release which is just the individual releases in one set.

For the PT, the individual releases and the digitpack Trilogy set included the same bonus materials discs.

So really, you are kind of grasping at straws with this arguement. But I guess that's par for the course around here when you try to attack everyone else's 'expectations' as being ridiculous when they really aren't in many cases.

The two images I've been able to load from the video:

http://oi53.tinypic.com/2irt9jr.jpg

http://oi56.tinypic.com/166lk0n.jpg

Box art and concept artwork I assume...

EDIT: Looks like the next image is going to be a behind the scenes blue-screen shot of the Darth Maul duel. Guess the video's going to have a mix of art for the box, concept art from the design of the films and behind the scenes photos.

cinemaphile 05-04-2011 02:28 PM

EDIT: Nevemind, people must have been saying the PAGE loaded to 14%. Now it's loading 100% fine. But the video is still only at like 7.

It adds more as people are sharing, but it doesnt fill up more for people just by having their page open. Only 6 (now 7) percent is available to anyone so far. So where do these people get 14%?

I thought maybe each country is separate and others have shared more, but some of those claiming 14% are listed as being in US

midnightskulker 05-04-2011 02:28 PM

Didn't it say "On May 4th, ALL will be revealed"? Seems more along the lines of "yeah, we'll reveal some stuff, some you already kind of know or guessed, other details are somewhat vague or we neglected to mention, and other details you'll have to work for by clicking on the share button..."

Either way, 1080p + good audio is enough for me.

More is revealed as the "Share % Meter" fills up.

Really need pictures of the box art and disc set. Wouldn't hurt for them to give us an updated trailer too. I am hoping it won't be too long until we get that.

Whoa...wait a sec. You corrected me last month or so when I said that they might make a few changes to the films for their 3-D versions as it would give people a REASON to go see them in the theater. Not going to go digging for it, because I don't really care. But now you are changing your opinon? WTF dude? Just who do you think you are? George Lucas or something?

Wait a sec, I think I just figured it out. Everyone... Beast is George Lucas. I fn knew it! ;)

Just messing with ya, but you did say there would be no changes for the 3D versions. Now, you changed your mind. Its cool. I am not going to pick on ya. Enjoy your day of Star Wars and all. I want to see that video as badly as you do.

p.s. Pretty sure that Yoda image is NOT cover art. There would be Text on it as well. Plus I sure hope not, anyway. It's kinda sloppy and ugly!

It can be box art, not cover art. Hell, it could be booklet art. I don't recall seeing it before though so I definitely think it's going to show up somewhere in the package you buy - unless they're showing images from proposed box art concepts in the video also.

EDIT: Question answered. :D Box art it is.

Jumpman 05-04-2011 02:35 PM

Told you....

For the Prequels, I think it's gorgeous.
