Then what ship was Jimmy Smits flying around in Ep III? Tantive III?

Any stats on video?

Is there any info on how these were transferred? Any further restoration? Was it a frame by frame effort? 2K, 4K, 6K scans? I could care less about whatever cover art is gone with.

insomniac013 05-04-2011 08:54 PM

I really hope Empire of Dreams is in this set somewhere. What a fantastic documentary! Would be even cooler if it was extended and in HD!

So the Theatrical Cuts are not included huh? Lame. :(

KulasDevorn 05-04-2011 08:56 PM

This was the most worthless social nonsense campaign in history.

"All will be revealed" Really? Nothing much WAS revealed other than we pretty much already knew...ahh, and the box art. Whoophydo. I am NOT impressed.

I want specifics.

Yeah, that would have been nice, too. But I wasn't really expecting actual footage from the new versions. Just a list of what is included.

I do hope that they correct those color issues, because that was just annoying.

I also would have LOVED to see a doc on the restoration to be included! I would find that very interesting. By that I mean the transfer to blu ray.

Thank you! Anyone else notice there hasn't been a word regarding the visual quality? Nothing about restoration work, or digital to digital transfers for Episode II and III, etc., or any new "enhancements" like the CGI Yoda in Episode I...it's all very vague.

Lucas made it very clear during production of "Sith", that he intended Bail Organa's ship to be the same one Vader later assaults in the opening of "New Hope". That's why he tried to replicate that set as closely as possible.

He changed his mind.

You're surprised by the fact that you can choose between the complete saga or the separate trilogies? Why is that a surprise? We've known for quite some time that they were being released in this manner.

C'mon! Are you kidding? Surprised by the cover art.

I really, really hope everyone is joking about the Holiday Special!? :ohnoes:
I couldn't even finish watching it. It'd be an awful waste of precious disc space.

I think a lot of members are forgetting the different attributes that will affect the final look of the cover art.

For a start, these are low-res images and therefore the level of detail is very limited. They may look 'Photoshopped', but since the compositions consist of sources that have been painted (or have achieved a look that is very close), seeing it them in hi-res will be a whole different ball game.

Secondly, if these are slip covers, they're bound to be embossed and that will affect the texture of the surface.

Thirdly, we don't know how these artworks going to be packaged. For example the Prequel Trilogy and Original Trilogy 'art' as we have seen them may not even be visible from the outer packaging - their could be a basic slip over them, whilst the artwork we have seen is part of the inner DigiPack.

Good points.

Did anyone even read this on StarWars.com???

Fans will get an exclusive first look at some of the collection's extensive special features at this year's San Diego Comic-Con International -- which marks Lucasfilm's 35th anniversary as a Comic-Con presence. In 1976, the fledgling film company was looking for innovative, grass-roots ways to promote its underdog release, a film no one expected to succeed -- a space opera known (at the time) only as Star Wars. One of the first film companies to reach out directly to core audiences by way of fan conventions, Lucasfilm will return to the venue to showcase the full evolution of the epic story with a special first look at STAR WARS: THE COMPLETE SAGA ON BLU-RAY.

When is this event??????? :ohnoes: :ohnoes: :ohnoes:

That's when more will be revealed! :D

I agree about the 3D and the 7.1 comments. I was pretty happy with it overall (knew they had a smaller budget with this movie), but I was mainly trying to point out that they did a fantastic job on the packaging and the cover art. I think it has one of the best slipcovers I own.

Cover art doesn't mean squat if the audio and video are compromised.

People's attention to slipcovers is downright scary. It makes me relish throwing mine away. Useless wastes of paper that interfere with easy removal of the discs.

The only thing I keep slips on is Disney movies, but if they do something decent here I'll be happy.

This is really the very last image I ever would have wanted to see on the Complete Set...Yeah I get it, but that doesn't mean I like it. The other two are magnificent, but the complete series is BLECH.

Right on, Billie.

You know what? That selection of bonus features pretty much blows, so i think i'll be fine with just the Original Trilogy boxed set. I'm sure all the deleted/alternate scenes will be on youtube the day of release anyway.

No Empire of Dreams on blu ray = FAIL. That was such a killer doc, can't believe they're excluding it from this set.

Bluyoda 05-04-2011 09:05 PM

Since these are going to b X certified, I am really curious if there will be special SW THX trailers!?!?!?

Also, I hope the SW BD logo will be on all discs.

100% agree!!!!!!

The covers look fantastic; the OG trilogy having the cooler cover. I'll be picking up the complete set, though.

When I saw the viral campaign for this I seriously got it in my head that maybe we'd get the untouched OG trilogy, but alas... :deadhorse:

Edit: Like others have said I would've liked specs.

I believe Comic-Con usually happens around late July.
