Thanks for the info, but it still doesn't specify if it's matrixed, or discreet. I hope it's discreet!

I don't think it sucks. I think it's a refreshing choice in fact. The Complete Saga artwork especially.

The two seprate trilogies will be 4 disc.

What's your source that they will be four disc sets?

I would trust the official Star Wars site and the official 20th Century Fox Home Entertainment sites over anything else.

On top of that, here's the official 20th Century Fox site where they list the preorder and its details.

http://www.foxconnect.com/star-wars-...trilogy-1.html

http://www.foxconnect.com/star-wars-...l-trilogy.html

Both pages list each trilogy set as a three disc, available for preorder, just like the official Star Wars site. I kind of think that GL's own Star Wars site and the studio handling the distribution might just be the best sources on this.

Other than fan assumption/hopes and an outdated Q&A from a Fox Executive in Norway, I've seen nothing else mentioning a 4-disc set. Considering that StarWars.com and Fox both say 3-disc, I'd say that's authoritative until further notice

I wouldn't trust the small number of people who post on this website to speak for everyone.

I don't think it's bad. It's not what I was expecting, I thought it would be mostly black, like space, but I think it's pretty cool.
To be honest though, I really don't care that much about the box, it's what's inside that counts. ;)

Exactly. But it's typical of movie fans and especially Star Wars fans to nitpick and never be happy.

It could come with a working lightsaber, and they'd complain about the hilt choice and/or blade color. ;)

According to this site, their is an extra bonus blu-ray disc for each trilogy, and an extra one in the complete saga, for a total of nine blu-rays.

But that info was going off of the Fox Norway executive's statements.

Where as more reliable sources closer to the production of the sets are saying different.

What about the weight? Would you have to use both hands, or just one? Oh god, I really shouldn't have said that! :ohnoes: :D

As long as it's not one of those forty pounders I'd probably be okay with it.

I did not know that! Do you have a link to the info? Do you not get any bonus discs with the single trilogies, and all three with the complete saga, or what? This is the first I've heard of this.
Thanks.

And it's typical of people like you to lump everyone together who ever makes any kind of negative comment about anything related to Star Wars.

Honestly, the packaging wouldn't be bad if it was better executed. But the style and color pallette used for the Complete Saga set is aweful. It looks as if barf was chosen as the main source of the color pallette (and I'm not saying that to exagerate it's badness... that's just genuinely what the coloring reminds me of). And regardless of the generally 'pukey' nature of the colors chosen, the sky looks too similarly colored to the ground. There should have been a better separation in the colors used for them. The blue text looks awful against the picture. They should have at least done the titling in Silver like on the individual trilogy sets.

Someone posted a pic a while back of the poster from Celebration IV, which had a similar layout, but the coloring, etc, was better. Bascially they would just need to "drop" Anakin in there, add in some properly colored text, and it would be all set. Same concept, better execution.

It wasn't a Norwegian exec, it was an interview with a Norwegian publication.

The exec, Vincent Marcais, is senior vp for international marketing, Europe.

Prerelease info should always be taken with a grain of salt but this wasn't cocktail party chatter in some backwater office.

Time will tell, though.

I just read that and it said nothing about four discs in the separate releases. It just listed a breakdown of the nine discs.

Thanks.

frogmort, check out my post that you quoted. It's got three links to the official Star Wars site and the 20th Century Fox site, all saying three discs in the separate sets and nine discs in the Saga set. Post #14228.

That's the best source for info right now.

Not THE 20th Century Fox site ... a site that 20th Century Fox sells movies on, that has yet to even see the sets ... So I'll stick with the executives announcement. And yes the Official Star Wars web site does say 3 disc, but that was posted BEFORE the announcement. My money is on the fact that the big wigs at 20th Century Fox know more about how many disc they decided to put in the set than someone who writes articles on a web page ... but that is just my opinion and you are surly entitled to yours

kenkraly2004 05-11-2011 11:51 PM

I hope this time around that this time around for the blu-ray release LFL will correct the mistakes that where made in 2004 for the OT SE dvd's. Those issues must be corrected and fixed for the blu-ray box set release.

I hate to be one of those guys, but I think the "all will be revealed" has created as many questions as it has answered. Maybe they are deliberately being ambiguous to stoke the fires, to keep people discussing this.
