Well, to be honest, it seems that many who want the UOT on Blu behave exactly that way. They ramble incessantly, saying the changes all suck, bashing Lucas personally for not giving them what they want, criticizing anyone who feels differently, and never mentioning whether they've actually done anything productive to help their cause. I won't type my standard response to this in full, but the point remains simple: take your feelings and complaints to Lucasfilm, because venting them here doesn't do anything except tick the rest of us off.

You may think that, and there may be a few out there who take it to the extreme sometimes, but if people do get carried away sometimes it's just a testament to the awesomeness that is Star Wars and how much the movies mean to people. Like somebody said in the documentary The People Vs. George Lucas, "there's something about our love for Star Wars that is different from our love for other things."

And besides, the same thing can be said about the people who constantly defend Lucas to their dying breaths. The over dramatic behavior that you've described is something I see coming from the Lucas camp as well. And as for criticizing anyone who feels differently, it really seems like more of that comes from the Lucas defenders. I see them saying things like, "No. You're wrong. Lucas is right. The changes make sense. You don't know what you're talking about. Your argument is silly. You don't know anything about Star Wars" and so on. So really, that argument can go both ways.

I'm pretty sure that people have tried to do just that.

If you are getting the version you want then why comment? I mean really let the people that want to complain, complain. It's really that simple is it not? Why would it tick you off? Really? Why? Why respond to it? You all are the ones that keeps this thing going. People are going to complain until they get what they want and there is nothing you can say or do to change that opinion. Maybe if the UOT bashers would just ignore the cries of that crowd it would go away on its own eventually. Do you really think that you are going to change anyone's point of view here?

Is there any problems or difficulties one would experience if one purchased the UK version for a cheaper price?

"This bickering is pointless."

Finally a question about the blu-ray and all the "fans' here, none bother to answer. Guys, not to say you can't discuss this thing about UOT/SE, but we've done this so many, many time it's getting tired. Just agree to disagree (even that has been said countless times). Enough already, please!

Chikin23, from the many experience buying from Amazon UK I've no problems at all. Mine usually arrives in 7-10 days with standard shipping. Even if there's any difficulty, their customer service is the best.

Please back on topic this is a thread about the blu-ray box set release not about the UOT vs SE debate. Stay on Topic. This bickering is pointless.

Agreed! Why is Empire of Dreams not included?

aiman04 05-22-2011 11:27 PM

Every post in the last few pages in this thread I've seen them many, many times since the first page. Every single point, every single word has been said many, many times already.

This thread just repeat itself repeat itself repeat itself repeat itself repeat itself repeat itself repeat itself repeat itself repeat itself repeat itself repeat itself repeat itself repeat itself repeat itself every single page.

So sad. :(

That might be in part due to the fact that nobody yet knows if there will be any issues with importing the UK release.

Fox is pretty inconsistent with region locking and until there's an actual release we simply won't know.

Not for me

GL is in a unique position where he actually owns his art. The vast majority of artists are not even in a position to make changes later because they do not own it. So he is choosing to update his art. It is plain and simple, if you do not like the SE changes then don’t buy them. Vote with your wallets.

As a collector I would love to own the UOT as I saw them in the theatre on BD, but I like the SE changes as well. I am sure they will be released for home viewing someday. But since I cannot control when they get released, I am not going to dwell on it.

But let's face some realities.

The original negatives are in bad condition and because of that common sense says it will take a lot of money to prepare them for BD release.

Now you can bet that there was extensive marketing research done to figure out how they could please the most people and make the most money. Because let’s face it, the all might dollar has a lot to say about this. You can bet that if GL could make enough money on the UOT to override his perfectionism, he would probably invest the money that it took to prepare them for a BD release.

It is time for everyone to take a deep breath and either just accept the reality.....or just keep on ranting on creating entertainment for the rest of us.

Good post but wrong on a few things.

1. The prints were cleaned up and restored when they went to the National Archives and National Film Registry. Also, if you think Lucas did not keep clean copies then he is lying (but that should not suprie anyone as he has lied about these films since 1978) Flip Flopping on just about every issue.

2. Cost would be a drop in the bucket

Which cut scenes are you most looking forward to on the blu-ray box set in disc's 7 and 8?

Well, we've seen most of them for the Prequels. But as for the OT?

A New Hope - Basically all of the Luke on Tatooine stuff. Even though we've seen it.

Empire Strikes Back - Wampas Vs. Snowtroopers. My most anticipated deleted scene.

Return Of The Jedi - Moff Jerjerrod and the Emperor's Guards barring Vader entrance to the Emperor's Throne Room.
And ending up on the receiving end of getting force choked.

Is it September yet?

At this point it's all speculation, since the only cut scene that's been confirmed is the Vader & Luke telepathy/Luke constructs lightsabre scene from Return of the Jedi. What I'd like to see are the deleted scenes from A New Hope (Luke at the vaporator, reunion with Biggs at Anchorhead, reunion with Biggs on Yavin IV restoring excised dialog where Red Leader mentions having met Luke's father when he was a boy). I have a passing interest in the ESB cut scenes and it's my understanding that the sandstorm footage from Jedi is unwatchable. Seen all of the cut scenes from the Prequels that I care to.
