I'm not saying you're wrong or right - I'd just like to point out that Disney frequently uses previously existing film versions of catalog titles to advertise and market a re-release of those catalog titles. The trailers for Sleeping Beauty, Bambi, Fantasia, Snow White etc. all used footage from the old transfers, not the new versions. Just because a display at Comic-Com or a trailer uses the old elements is no reason to firmly believe that is exactly what we're getting.
I'm tossing this out as a helpful expression of hope, rather then throwing in the towel altogether...because if the blu-ray set is the old transfer, I'm not buying, and will start looking into trying to purchase a new laserdisc player.
