This was posted on the Rumor Mill, with the "source" being a "reader" of the bits. Good hints, but nothing even close to official.:(

The "source" informed him that Bob Gale stated at a PUBLIC event that they were working on a Blu-ray release. That's how the "Firefly" news came about as well (though from Jewel Staite, and not Bob Gale)...

Nothing official... but enough to get excited! :)

~Alan<~~~~~~Who knew there was a good reason why he never got around to buying the trilogy on DVD...

Hopefully this news is accurate.

True or not, this is one trilogy that is BEGGING to be on BLU (well... parts 1 and 2 atleast)

It was stated that they are working on a bluray release and that it may come as early as 2009. Bill was assuming that the earliest it would show up is next year. No confirmed or even possible release quarter. Great to hear that this is coming, it will be pre-ordered as soon as possible, but until Uni comes out and says something I will only be partly excited ;)

Bill Hunt 04-23-2008 02:12 AM

It's accurate - the release is in the planning stages. When we got the report from readers, we checked with industry sources. It's VERY early in the project yet, so there's not much specific to report other than that they're in the works.

Actually, technically, that's what it is according to the script. But, in the film, since Christopher Lloyd mispronounced the word and nobody realized it was wrong, it should be spelled "Jigawatt"

P.S. The best Blu-ray news I could have possibly heard aside from an official date for 'The Matrix' trilogy.
