Lethal Weapon 2-Pack: Walmart Exclusive & More BR 2-Packs

I just returned from Walmart and I don't know if anyone has checked them out recently, but, they have the Lethal Weapon 2-Pack (Lethal Weapon 1 & 2) and it's exclusive to Walmart. I picked up a copy of this 2-pack and it's attached with a price tag of $19.96.

If you have been waiting to pick up these two movies, this is a great price and I thought I'd pass it along.

The local store in my area has set an endcap and they have almost 50 different titles that include:

Chaos/Crank 2: High Voltage
Lethal Weapon/Lethal Weapon 2
X-men/Fantastic Four: Rise of the Silver Surfer
Kiss the Dragon/Bulletproof Monk
Four Brothers/The Warriors
Patton/The Longest Day
We Were Soldiers/Tropic Thunder
Battle of Britain/A Bridge Too Far
Planet of the Apes (1968)/Planet of the Apes (2001)

There are a lot more, I just couldn't remember them all.

Is it the same duff transfer on LW2?
Also are they true doubles, or the same discs in a double slipcase?

supersix4 07-10-2010 03:37 PM

One of the very few blu-ray transfers I just hated...

Yes. It's the same transfer for both movies and both are housed in a slipcover.

If Warner Bros. is packaging them as a double pack, then maybe that means we are close to Lethal Weapon 3 & 4 finally coming out on Blu.

I was fine with how Lethal Weapon 1 turned out, not perfect, but certainly an upgrade from the DVD. Lethal Weapon 2 was another story. That has got to be my most hated transfer as far as Blu-rays go. The PQ seemed OK at some points, but most of the time the picture would get pixelated and didn't look very good at all.

kemcha 07-10-2010 05:40 PM

On the Lethal Weapon movies, how is the Picture Quality when watching it on a 32" HDTV? I'm asking because I have yet to open these up and I'm curious what the PQ on these movies are.

Read the reviews on here. 1 us decent, 2 is horrid. I love the series, but am waiting for good transfers or it just isn't worth it.

Slip cover enthusiasts will like the packaging.

kemcha 07-10-2010 07:13 PM

I don't know, I thought the slipcover was generic, too bland. Warner Brothers seems to have an infatuation with "grey" DVD covers and Paramount has the same fascination with movie disks and DVD's and Blu-ray disks with featureless "grey" artwork but with no actual artwork.

Warner Bros released these in the early days of blu-ray so most every thing was generic at the time...

Yeah, the slipcover cover is kinda bland and boring looking. What do you expect from a retail store, but it's nice to have it in my slip collection since it's an exclusive slip. ;)

kemcha 07-10-2010 07:48 PM

You may be right ... however, I'm not exactly big on these slipcvers. I'll probably discard it unless someone might be interested in purchasing it ... heh.

markbr 07-10-2010 07:58 PM

I would like to buy all 4 in a box set with new transfers. I'm hoping they do release them all with DTS HD Master Audio. I think the third was my best movie!!

kemcha 07-10-2010 08:24 PM

I don't see that happening. If anything, they'll just re-issue or re-release the current versions of LW1 and 2 and just include 3 and 4.

Or come up with some kind of Ultimate Edition with all four LW

LW 2-pack and the 2-packs are no longer available. My WalMart is the same and asked one of the employees and he said that the 2-packs were a seasonal promo. :(

kemcha 07-31-2010 06:38 PM

They still have these 2-packs at my local Walmarts.

Really?? Maybe it depends on the location then. My local WalMart started selling the 2-packs in May in my area. I went to WM last weekend and they were wiped out of the 2-packs. :(

bondfooll 07-31-2010 07:57 PM

I don't think I want to watch these for a while. I can definitely wait for a re-release.
