So I did a little searching online today (the one hour of the day we weren't nonstop busy) and I think I'm going to attempt a bar that looks like this:
http://i372.photobucket.com/albums/o...2/e6656a89.jpg It will match my wall panels and speakers. Should I do black or grey for the top and trim? I need to find someone to custom make me a metal top and trim. |

I like the look of the bar your thinking of doing, it would really look great with your speakers and panels you have now.

What's up Sean? If you could build that bar, you can definitely build speakers lol

Morning Sean,
That bar would look great! Would you build it from scratch or are you going to use pre fab cabinets? |

Well I went to price things around here for the heck of it on what I'd spend to buy the countertop outright. $300 was the minimum. That was for laminate to stick to my wood surface. That is ridiculous. Well my future brother in law and his father have made counters, shelves, etc. out of metal. They have a plasma cutter and all sorts of other tools. I'm thinking I'll get this done for the cost of materials (maybe not even that if they have stuff laying around). The side panels I haven't figured out yet and I'll see what the f.b.i.l. says before I get that done. I dismantled my bar as it is going to be too high. So I'll head over to the shop and cut those height boards soon. I got new speaker wire (naim) today also. I might get around to hooking that up tonight also. Back to the grind....................

So I got the naim nac a5 speaker wires yesterday and installed them at lunch today. I did a little a/b comparison between them and the monster speaker wire I was using. I didn't think I'd hear a noticable difference given I'm not very good at nit-picking the finer details. So I played first 3 songs of Allison Krauss Airplanes album (24/96 hires) as I am recently familar with it on both sets of wires. The naim seemed to have more noticable detail, cleaner/crisp sound, and the bass response was a bit better. I found myself hooked on listening to the album and being drawn into the songs/detail. I had the volume cranked also and was loving it:rock:. The difference wasn't huge by any means but it bumped things up a notch on improvement for me. I was going to keep the wires regardless of a better change (unless it was negative) as the shielding/build quality is a lot better than my monster cable speaker wires. The naim ndac, oppo 93, and nordost quatum qb8 power distributor (with nordost blue heaven power cord) are all back on for sometime next month. I was thinking of getting just the naim ndac for now but decided to go with all 3. |
Hi Sean, Happy hump day. Your place is coming along nicely. It's starting to look like a home now. Those are great upgrades you are considering.
