Well, against my better judgement due to lack of funds, I broke down and just purchased a used Dell Latitude D630 laptop off eBay, mainly because the seller was local right here in Lancaster. About a 3-year old laptop, 2.2GHz Core 2 duo, 2GB mem, 120GB HD, DVD, for $250. Not too shabby. I currently have a Dell Latitude D600, I'll be selling that one to help pay for this one, if anyone is interested in a cheap but great condition laptop... :)

Cool! Getting Death Race 2 from Netflix today - I loved the first Death Race movie with Jason Statham; even though he is not in this prequel, it should still be a frolicking good time...!

Dammit! I'm so frickin' pissed at the eBay seller with my laptop! I bought the laptop and sent an email right away to the seller telling him I wanted to arrange a local pickup, left a comment in the Paypal payment I wanted to pick it up locally, and checked the box for local pickup on the billing paperwork... and at 4PM this evening, I get an email saying my laptop has SHIPPED! :banghead: Farging Ayhole, I've had WAY too many electronics I've purchased through eBay completely destroyed in shipping (at least $2,500 worth over the past 6 years!), either by irresponsible handling by UPS or Fedex, or by extremely poor packing by the seller. And I'm NOT waiting another 3 months having to fight to get an insurance reimbursement from the shipper if it IS damaged. Plus, if it arrives requiring a signature for delivery, there is no one home during the day to sign for it, and it is a huge inconvenience having to leave work early to drive to the dang UPS hub to pick up a package.
If there is any issue with that laptop when it arrives tomorrow, I will be on the warpath with the seller bigtime... and I will find him. :dead2: |
Oh man that sucks will hunt him down man !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I've been there I bought a paradigm center channel studio cc-590 and it came with chunks out of the corners I was fit to be tied the guy packed it in a homemade box with this foam that just powdered on impact a long with newspaper lol. But the good news is if you use paypal on fleebay they wil back you up and you dont even have to go threw the shipper let the seller deal with it. Anyway tell paypal it wasnt as described and it was damaged and they will refund your money
|
Ah well, I'll just have to hope it makes it here ok, at least it only has to go 10 miles... :o
Well, gotta repost my BDP-83 now too, the deal fell through, unfortunately I didn't get the unit shipped out quick enough to suit the buyer. I forgot to load it in my car Monday morning (doh!), and today I couldn't make it over to the UPS Store because I was stuck with a big network problem at work and didn't get any time for lunch to go drop it off. ah well. |

Yeah, well I wasn't trying real hard to sell it, but I'm posting it up a few other places as well this time around. Still avoiding eBay for now - too many dang fees!
|
Yes paypal and ebay the fees add up and even Audiogon gets a peice of the pie .

No Biggie though, because my selling price of $350 would only incur $7 for a successful sales fee, plus a $4 posting fee... |

EDIT: I thought you finally sold your Oppo 83, but I see a new sale thread? |

Woah, I got 3 offers already on Audiogon, and I just posted it last night at 11PM... so, it's gonna go real quick, as soon as I get my counteroffers out... :)

:halo:
EDIT: 2 more offers... dang it, I specifically checked the box that my price was FIRM when I created the posting, and not Make an Offer, but the Make an offer button is showing up, and I can't change it, hence all the offers... what a pain... |
Did your lap top show up yet ?

I also accepted a buyer's offer on my Oppo, just waiting for him to get back to me so we can finalize the deal... |

Well, let's not celebrate just yet - The buyer for my Oppo 83 accepted and made his Paypal payment to me a short while ago, but in his Paypal message he then requested the player be double-boxed for shipping. Well, I have no box anywhere near that big to pack it in, I would have to buy a box and packing at the UPS Store, for a lot more $$ plus a larger and heavier package to pay shipping on. Probably would add another $20 to the cost, I'm sure. None of that was included in my shipping price... It's boxed in the original shipping carton that came directly from Oppo, which is VERY substantial. but, if that isn't sufficient, then I guess I'll be refunding his Paypal payment... :(
|
Ya know, when I sold my 83 the buyer also asked for it to be double boxed. I simply told him I will ship it exactly the same way Oppo shipped it to me. How could he argue with that?
|
Well, that's basically what I told the buyer - Either accept it as Oppo sent it, pay for the extra boxing costs on top of what he already paid, or cancel and refund. I was at least nice enough to attach a few photos of the Oppo packaging... I didn't get any email reply back yet, and I'm heading to bed now, it's after midnight -Zzzz... Nite all!

Yessir, just got an email from him about a half hour ago... after reading my email and looking at the photos I sent him of the packaging, he agreed to have me ship it in just the original shipping box from Oppo. Heheh, I DID remember to bring the box to work with me today this time, so it's going out at lunchtime to the UPS Store...
Plus, I may have a buyer already of my Dell Latitude D600 laptop I've replaced with the newer D630 I received yesterday, so I'm on a roll now, better start selling some more of my equipment, lol! I have a nice pair of Vintage Large Advent Loudspeakers and an Adcom 5.1 surround processor to get rid of yet, for starters... :) |

I really don't have an personal data on the laptop, mainly just weblinks and web-based applications - I also only use webmail, so I don't have any emails stored on my hard drive, either. But I will be sure to clean out the drive properly before I sell it - I've only been in the computer business for 25 years... ;)

Well, my Oppo 83 is now on it's way to St. Louis MO, dropped it off at the UPS Store over lunch... Ha! With my luck, this weekend my BDP-93 will probably break down, leaving me VERY BLU-(less)! :ohnoes: :D

Wow, today came real quick - I worked 3 extra hours last night doing some server maintenance, didn't get home until 9PM... now I'm back in the office already... where'd my evening go?? :(
Well, at least its FRIDAY, and I have monday off for the Holiday... woot! |
Hi Troy!!!:D
Hope you're doing well! |
Bill! There you are! You've really been busy at work just like you said you'd be... but it's the weekend now!
Spent most of the evening tonight moving all my data off the old Dell D600 laptop and onto my new D630 laptop, and also got a bluetooth mouse setup on it as well - I had to use a wireless mouse with USB dongle on my old laptop, but with the built-in Bluetooth on the D630, I don't need to use a dongle anymore! |
