Hey guys, I saw something interesting on the way to work this morning - I pulled out of a T intersection right behind a Ford Focus hatchback that had just passed through the intersection, the car had a weird-looking, 6-foot tall object with a big, 18" diameter ball on top, inside a tight-fitting leather cover, mounted with guy-wires to a metal rack attached to the roof - "wtf is THAT?" I wondered... so I stepped on the gas and my little Scion xD leapt forward like lightning (lol!) to catch up to the suspect vehicle... here it turned out, the car was all painted up with images and signs for "Google Maps Street View" and the object on the roof was a 4-way camera, and I suppose GPS or satellite hardware inside the ball... I happened to have my camera in the car with me, so I whipped it out and took a few photos through the windshield - I'll download them off my camera tonight when I get home and post one up...

Sounds pretty cool Troy......where were you exactly when you saw it?

Morning guys. Busy morning, I need a break soon. Almost lunch.
Was raking up all the fallen leaves and tree branches in my front yard from Irene last night, got a full bag of leaves and nice pile of branches to get rid of now, and I'm only about half-way done... and it's not even Fall yet, grrr.... |
What's up, sir Freyster?
That's why you have kids. Throw a rake in their hands and tell 'em to stop yapping and start raking.:whip: Now it's lunch time. http://www.myemoticons.com/images/ho...g/sandwich.gif |
My 10 yr old daughter was with me last night, she did help - she picked up all the branches and twigs while I raked.
My dad got laid off of his PT job back in April, and he finally got another job today, he'll be making less per hour but a lot more hours, 30/week, so my parents will have a better paycheck to live off of. My dad is 73, so finfing a job was a challenge, to say the least! :relief: |
I still have my fair share to mow over. I picked up all the branches, but most small twigs and leaves I will just run over with the lawn mower tomorrow after work. Good thing I cut down that huge branch off of our one tree in the backyard on Friday evening, just before Irene came. The darn thing was rotted at the bottom and it fell (just last Tuesday, after the earthquake) and then rested on top of one of the fence posts luckily, and not the fence itself, otherwise the fence probably would not have supported it. However, the branch was almost a foot wide, so it took a lot of sawing to cut it up into smaller pieces where I could bundle all the big pieces and branches up. Sorry, but I have no power tools, so I had to cut all of those darn braches by hand. I even had my axe handy if the saw wasn't going to "cut it." ;)
|
yeah, I have no chainsaw either for cutting, gasoline or electric...
I called the Cable TV company yesterday and told them I have a big branch hanging down on their line, they said they would have the service guy come out and disconnect the line from the pole across the street so I could take the branch down... I guess it will take a few days for them to get caught up enough to get to my little job, as they didn't show up at all yesterday... |

No, we have Blue Ridge Cable here in Manheim, from Ephrata... but I don't use the Cable, I have Directv. Probably why they aren't in any hurry to service me, lol... |
I just bought a new laser printer for home from Newegg, a Samsung ML-3312ND, they had it as their Shell-Shocker deal this morning for only $99 with free shipping. Got high ratings from reviewers. I ordered it at 12:15pm, got the UPS shipping/tracking# notice at 4:00, shipping from Edison NJ, so it will arrive tomorrow!
That will make a real nice replacement for the HUGE HP Laserjet 5si I'm using as my b&w printer right now - Free up some (a lot of) space on my computer shelf, that's for sure. |

I totally loved LotG - so much so that I bought the 3D Blu-ray version, even though I don't have any 3D capabilities in my theater, yet... I even bought a double-sided movie poster of LotG for my light box! The CGI is superb, and I especially love those dramatic slo-motion scenes in HD - they are totally jaw-dropping... I get goose-bumples all over every time I watch those scenes, lol... I'm really disappointed so many people thought the story sucked, I'm at a loss - I thought it was a great story! |
I liked the movie enough to buy it too. I think of it as 300 with owls and less blood splatter .

That Avatar is much better!:rock::D

Well, my new Samsung ML-3312ND laser printer arrived at home today, to take the place of my 15 year old HP Laserjet 5Si behemoth. The new printer was definitely a nice buy at a sale price of only $99 - 1200 dpi, 33 ppm, 64mb, 660mhz dual-core processor, auto-duplexing, 6 seconds to first page, 100Mbit ethernet and USB ports. Its very quick and very quiet.
The Laserjet 5Si prints at 30ppm, 1200dpi, also has a duplexer, and it's built like a tank - but it's loud, slow to start (almost a full minute to first page), and it has one really glaring drawback, as you can plainly see: http://freytheater.com/forum/printers.jpg Size matters! :D Another plus for the Samsung - it doesn't dim the lights in the entire house when it powers up from sleep mode to print, LOL! |

Honestly, I hate owls. They perched outside my window in San Diego and hooted for hours. |
