[Show spoiler] that will catch your eye. I love going back to Taipei for the eye candy, sadly all I can do is look. Still, everyone needs a hobby. |
I'm moving to Tapei, then... I'm jealous, Travis! and I'm also single...

Well, since my thread is titled "Monthly Movie Nights at the Frey Theater," I guess I should report on my first Monthly Movie Night for the 2011/2012 season - had 4 guests come over tonight to see "Unknown" and everyone thought it was a great movie... I'll be showing it Saturday night too, have 3 people coming so far to that showing... :)

Went to Best Buy over lunch today and bought 4 new $9.99 blu-rays - I specifically choose ones that had HD audio, as some of the older titles only had DTS audio. Titles I picked up for $9.99:
Minority Report Top Gun Lost in Space League of Extraordinary Gentlemen |

But, I do have some low-quality photos I took back in 2003, so you get an idea of the place - their house, salt-lick and corn for the deer, pond with the big bridge I helped build, the lean-to with a much smaller fire ring than they have now, their picnic pavilion with the huge oil tank grill, and their swing set in the recreation area...plus, a bonus shot of me riding in the golf cart, lol... :D http://troyfrey.com/forum/ludwigs/dshouse1.jpg http://troyfrey.com/forum/ludwigs/dshouse2.jpg http://troyfrey.com/forum/ludwigs/dssaltlick.jpg http://troyfrey.com/forum/ludwigs/dspond.jpg http://troyfrey.com/forum/ludwigs/dsbridge.jpg http://troyfrey.com/forum/ludwigs/dsleanto.jpg http://troyfrey.com/forum/ludwigs/dspavilion.jpg http://troyfrey.com/forum/ludwigs/dsgrill.jpg http://troyfrey.com/forum/ludwigs/dsswing.jpg http://troyfrey.com/forum/ludwigs/dscart.jpg |
That place looks idyllic. I love the little bridge over the brook. Lol. That grill is bigger than the cook.:D
P.S. Happy Labor Day! |

Oops, just noticed I missed the lean-to photo, fixed. That's my ex and my two girls, when they were much younger. |
Nice place! Love everything surrounding the house: pond, brook, grill, camp fire, etc. Looks like a great place to relax.

Nice place there Troy....very nice indeed. Your kids look so young...hard to imagine them so little considering what they are up to now isn't it? By the way.....nice 'stache! :)

Yes, I was thinking the same thing about my kids being so young looking in that photo, it wasn't that long ago...they change so quick! :( |
Disaster! Well, the rains have come down, and down, and down... unfortunately, I am getting water seepage in my theater room, the front half of the black carpet is saturated, don't know how far back into the room it will be wet by the time I wake up tomorrow morning... the basement is gonna be a mess before this is all over...
Guess I won't be going in to work tomorrow, I'll be working the shop vac all day, most likely. looks like maybe a halt to the movie nights for awhile... :( |

SO, a total disaster in the Frey Theater... I woke up this morning and found the entire basement and theater is flooded with almost an inch of water, all the wall to wall carpeting is submerged. It is still raining outside - we got 10" of rain yesterday, not counting last nights rain, and we're supposed to get more rain the next few days.. it's pouring outside right now. Thank goodness I put a lot of stuff up off the floor last night, but I have a 5x15' walk-in closet and another closet under the stairs in the basement, full of boxes stacked up from when I moved 5 years ago, all the stuff in the boxes on the bottom will be wet. My old sets of vintage Large Advent Speakers are in the closet under the stairs, I guess they'll be destroyed.
Fortunately, all my theater equipment and furniture should be OK, most everything is up off the floor or on wheels or rubber feet, so that's good. Except my Dual 18" subwoofer, it is sitting directly on the floor. Flood waters in Manheim, no one can get out of town, I won't be going to work for a couple days, most likely. Not much I can do right now, it's still raining and the water is still seeping in - I may as well go back to bed to get some sleep, I only got 3 hours of sleep overnight. I'm sitting at my computer here in the basement, with my bare feet submerged in the water... :( |

So, this isn't the first time this has happened with water in the basement if I remember right. I assume this is actually worse from what you say. If so, what are you going to do next.....tear out the carpet for good or perhaps look into a sump pump? I know this is a silly request, but seeing a pic of your feet within your HT submerged in water would be an odd sight for sure! ;) |
Quote:
|
Wow Troy that really sucks. It's good that the HT equipment for the most part is OK. And also that you are OK. Were the 18" subs badly damaged? You guys are just getting hammered this year. I wish you the best of luck and all of our other BD PA friends.
|
Troy, sorry to hear that. I hope you get something figured out.
|
Well, it's a lost cause trying to sweep out any water right now, because it is still flowing in... fortunately I have a french drain in the floor of the under-the-house garage, I'm not sure if it is hooked into the sewer system or not, but a lot of the water coming in is running out into the garage and down the drain - as long as the drain keeps flowing, I shouldn't get more than the current inch of water in my basement now.
The rains have stopped - for now... It's slowly moving out, but we're still supposed to get more rain on and off over the next 4 days... |
Holy rain water, Frey. Man, that really sucks. Good to hear you were able to save most of your HT gear. At least you don't have to go into work for a few days. I'm a glass is half full kind of guy.
