I would show up as an uninvited guest, But I saw snow on the ground when you unloaded the popcorn machine.

Your system really looks wonderful.

Thanks! lol, it's a bit of a cruise from Florida to Lancaster, though! And that snow in the popcorn pic was from last year - there's no snow on the ground here right now - at least not yet. :)

Hey Troy, I sure wish I could make the trip up there too. It ain't a party till HTG shows up. I even went to the step of getting driving directions but when it said it was a 12 1/2 hour trip  I decided nope not this time. Have fun and make sure you are nice to your guest except that LOTR guy from Maryland. :p

OK, for all you guys on here that insist on worshipping me as the Carpentry God that I am (lol!), here's a good example of "thinking ahead" in my construction that I want to show you... :D

Each of my columns are attached to the wall using only four 3" drywall screws, one in the center of each of the four crossmembers in the framework. Because each column is centered over a seam between the wall panels in order to hide them, I have to run the screws through the center of the crossmembers because that's where the stud is located behind the wall to screw in to. I was worried about this manner of mounting, because the vertical sides of the columns are not attached to the wall in any way; I was concerned that heavy doses of LFE in the theater would cause the wood frames to vibrate and rattle against the wall. I didn't want to glue the frames to the walls, because I wanted them to be removable if need be in the future, without damaging the wall panels behind them.

My solution: I bought a few rolls of truck camper-mounting tape at the hardware store (used to seal the seam between truck caps and the truck bed) which has adhesive on only one side, and applied it to the back of the side members of each of the seven columns... the foam will provide a thin padding between the wall and the frame, and prevent any rattling during an explosive movie or when playing bassy music...

Well, I'm coming down with a cold, must have gotten it from my daughter, who was very sick over the weekend while staying with me... I will really need to force myself to work on the wall columns in the theater tonight, I'm already loopy on cold medicine... And I have my Monthly Movie Night tomorrow night, I need to clean up the basement for that, too. Great timing. :(

Just so I'm better for the 14th next weekend... :ohnoes:

Still have to roll the second coat of plum paint on the front panels, I only put one coat on before I attached them to the columns... I will do that before I go to bed. I doubt I'll have the time to get the lights mounted tomorrow evening before everyone shows up for Movie Night, but I'm going to give it a try... Maybe I'll get up an hour early tomorrow morning and mount them before going to work, after the paint is dry.

The second 30" heater is supposed to be delivered on Friday, So I'll get that mounted and wired up over the weekend... then I can finish the baseboard along that wall.

Travis 01-05-2012 02:56 AM

Looking great.

Watching some trailers, any thoughts on Killer Elite, looks like it will be some loud fun. Warrior, looks very familiar. Drive, more loud fun.

Prometheus, thought I heard it wasn't gonna be a prequel to Alien, but you can clearly see the space jockey and its ship in the trailer. Very excited to see this, but worried it will be a complete let down.

Aerodude73 01-05-2012 03:12 AM

Ditto that Troy - looking very nice!!

THE KILLER ELITE came out & did nothing, so while the Trailer did its Job
[Show spoiler](got people out "initially" but not enough)
, the movie came & went pretty quickly. Whoda' thunk it? :p --- I mean, DeNiro, Statham, Clive Owen

DRIVE was good, not Great (for ME), tho' some people are calling it one of the best of 2011 :shrug2:

I've heard mostly very good (surprising somewhat) things on those who've seen WARRIOR. Not sure where you read PROMETHEUS was Not going to be a prequel story but it def is just that. The trailer looks Incredible!! Plus, the fact that Ridley Scott is behind it, you just Know it won't disappoint!! Nice to see Charlize Theron in it, tho' I'd have preferred mostly no-names myself.

Prometheus Trailer Official 2012 [HD] - Charlize Theron, Michael Fassbender - YouTube

http://www.blu-ray.com/news/?id=5758

Twentieth Century Fox has announced that its new science-fiction movie to be directed by Sir Ridley Scott, which had started development as an Alien prequel, will now be produced as a totally unrelated movie, titled Prometheus. This is good news for those that had refrained from buying the recently released Alien Anthology Blu-ray box set for fear of a double-dip if a bigger box set including the prequel was released later.

Prometheus, written by Damon Lindelof and starring Swedish actress Noomi Rapace, is scheduled for worldwide release in March 2012.

Not as bad as you thought? Lol, just keep watching - once you start the Season one episodes, hang on for a wild ride! And, Season 2 is even better than Season 1! BSG is hands-down the best space-themed sci-fi drama out there, easily topping Star Trek, Stargate, Star wars, Star Anything....:thumbsup:

Yes im sure Troy. Sorry about that. :p I just got that idea by the slightly depressing cast and dated cgi but i was wrong. I just completed episode 5 (the one were star buck overtakes the cylon "brain ship" lol). A two part episode that one which i've always loved since X-Files started doing that..Raises the suspense.

Off too the next episode. Frak! :D :panic: ;)

Only bad thing with the lights is, because I installed the front four lights separately from the rear three lights, a few weeks apart, I didn't notice or realize a critical issue until after I mounted these last three lights - The drop ceiling behind the center support beam running across the theater area is actually 1 1/2" higher than the drop ceiling in front of the beam. I measured down from the ceiling to mark the height of the lights on the panels, so it made the rear 3 lights 1 1/2" higher than the front two on that wall, and it is noticible in the photos... :(

My cold is slowly getting worse, it's going to be a hard night to sleep, coughing and hacking and blowing my nose continously. Will definitely be taking off work tomorrow to get some much-needed beauty sleep! :ohnoes:
