T-Roy has great taste!

I used to live in Taipei on a street up from a fashion/design college. Students were mostly young, fit females. In the morning, I'd leave for work and  Felt like a starving wolf staring at a bunny freeway. They'd be getting off the the bus and walking to school; and I (with my impure thoughts) had to go to work. Luckily, my wife (then co-worker) was there for me to flirt with. Anyway, you would have loved it. And the college has a Starbucks right next to it. Great place to sit with a Chinese book and ask a cute girl who just happens to be sitting next to you, "Excuse me, how do I read this word?" :D

Sounds like a great time! :inlove: I might even consider sacrificing my easy access to tasty Mexican restaurants just to live in a place like that! ;) :D

Perhaps this is more to your liking Troy?

It was nice. Got a story or two.

Kinda glad we moved out of Taipei after getting married. Not so many temptations here, :relief: but also not so much eye candy, :( or libido fuel as I called it. :D

Good Morning, Sir!

A big HFD to HTG! :headbang:

hometheatergeek 06-17-2012 03:21 PM

Thanks Troy, so what are the kids doing for their dad today?

FREYMAX 3D 06-17-2012 05:01 PM

We'll be out at my Parents' house for a Father's Day/Troy's Birthday picnic later this afternoon, it'll just be the five of us. We're getting a bucket of fried chicken from the local Twin Kiss restaurant - They have awesome tasting chicken there, way better flavor than KFC...

I was outside at 8:00am this morning finishing up the two lofts I built inside my new shed - I screwed down all of the plywood sheeting with drywall screws... even that early, I was sweating up a storm by the time I was finished... :relief:

So here's a few pics of my fruits of hard labor this weekend... all that stuff in the shed right now is from my basement closets I had to empty out from the flood last fall, looking forward to finally getting it sorted through and either thrown away or reboxed...

I mostly use tools from the "Yard Sale Specials" line... :D

That miter saw you see in the first two photos I bought for $10, and I got a 7" table saw from another yard sale for $20...

Hmm... Well, I AM in need of a good quality battery-powered drill/driver, my 10-year old 18V NMH DeWalt drill I currently have has a failed clutch on it, and I haven't yet tore it apart to see what exactly it needs or if parts are even available to repair it anymore... :(

Hey Dan... Been super busy at work and home the last couple days, haven't had much forum time at all... I hope to pickup more lumber at Lowe's tonight to build my ramp for the shed this weekend - after the heat wave the next few days is over... :relief:

Haven't seen any pics of HT lately. Is everything finished? I think it may be, but coffee is not working.

No, I really haven't worked on the theater room in a few months - I still have door trim to install on 3 doors, and some baseboard to install that's waiting on the door trim. Also the floors inside of the closets still need to be coated with acrylic sealer, so I can start to put stuff back inside them.

I'm back to working outside on the shed right now, trying to catch up on all the work there that got interrupted with the flood event...

I've got a bunch of trim work to do on the inside. However the outside work has taken priority while the weather cooperates.

bz1080p 06-22-2012 01:22 AM

Hi Troy:D
How goes it?

FREYMAX 3D 06-22-2012 01:40 AM

OK, time for a big rant, off-topic...

So we're having the first heat wave of the summer, with temps in the upper 90's along with that lovely Pennsylvania humidity - and all of a sudden my air conditioning seemed to stop working. I came home from work yesterday, it was about 98 degrees outside; I had set my thermostat up to 75 degrees while I was away during the day - and when I got home from work and walked in the house it was 88 degrees inside and the AC was running constantly without stopping, and blowing luke-warm air. :relief: Same story today - I set the thermostat lower, to 73 degrees, so it was only 85 degrees inside when I got home... been running the AC all evening non-stop, and it is still 81 degrees upstairs, and 78 in the basement. :panic:

So the A/C system is 5 years old, I figured it probably needs a cleaning and service, maybe a recharge. Then I was watching the local evening news tonight, and saw a report on people in neighboring York County all up in arms over some power-saving module the electric company had been offering to install on their systems to cut back on electric use during high use periods, for a monetary reward for those who chose to participate. Seems the modules were not working, they're supposed to cycle the A/C off and on more often, but evidently screwing up and now everybody's A/C is also not working. The news report also mentioned that the power company in Lancaster County where I live has a similar program going.

Then I remembered - hey, I think I signed up for that program about two months ago, popped the "no postage required" postcard back in the mail to the power company to sign up. They were offering something like $75 back at the end of the cooling season. With my A/C on full all summer, it only adds about $30 a month to my bill, so I figured hey, I can get just about free AC for the entire summer! Cool!

So I went outside to my A/C unit, and there it was - a very large, nasty looking power module attached to the outside unit and to the side of my house. What friggin' good is $75 back if my dang A/C doesn't work at all! Those slimy B@#&tards!!

SO, I gotta put up with the heat tonight, Customer Service is 8-5, except for the 24 hr emergency outage number, which tonight is on eternal hold music - they're probably getting swamped with angry calls! Tomorrow I'll be on the warpath, they are first going to turn that damn module OFF, and then completely remove it as soon as they can get out here... :baseballbat: :deadhorse:
