So while you are a level 27 character, you have to start zero with upgrades and the enemies are tougher. It would've been easier (although still a bit tough) to create a new person and start at zero. That would level the playing field.

I am going to strongly disagree with this. Yes not having upgraded weapons sucks but you have all of your powers at a much higher level than you would with a new character and those can give you everything you need to make it through until you can get your weapons up to speed.

In SHORT, Insanity is MUCH better played with an imported character.

That was bad advice. Insanity should always be played with a NG+ character.

In the beginning you will have to rely more heavily on your powers and squad powers until you get all of the weapon upgrades.

the only thing you have are upgraded powers. Everything else is reset. You're fighting Max level enemies from the start. So No, it is not better to start Insanity with an imported person. Its a fact that its tougher.....search the Bioware forums and you'll see it everywhere. I've done this myself and can tell anyone from experience that with your powers or not, its more difficult.

You're fighting Max level enemies from the start of the game.

I'll do you one better....there are a few threads over there already. I'll post a few.

Lvl 30 Soldier import or new class for Insane?

Mr. J 02-09-2011 02:11 PM

Importing from ME 1 or 2 for Insanity

Mr. J 02-09-2011 02:14 PM

The hardest difficulty in Mass Effect 2 is importing a ME2 person on Insanity. The only bonus is having your skills level stay the same. Other than that, you get beginner weapons, paragon/renegade is reset and ALL enemies are maxed out...even their powers.

Guess I don't have to worry about that since I don't plan on importing any characters :D

Any tips for the
[Show spoiler]Geth Colossus
on Haestrom? I can hardly make a dent in the shield before it recharges. I expect I'll have to go back and equip a different heavy weapon.

[Show spoiler]After you talk to the guy Quarian, I would advance to the right hand side. Stay in cover because Geth will come after you and you have to watch the sun. But you shouldn't stay in cover to take them out. They come out in waves, so take them out and quickly move forward....other wise it'll be continuous waves of Geth.

After you advance far enough, you should be at a point where you can throw everything you have at it, while also staying in cover. Use everything from, Overload, to Warp and HEAVY WEAPONS.

I just beat the game last night and am at lvl 28. In order to get the level 30 trophy, I have to import my previous character and play a few levels to get to 30 correct?

Then from there I should start a new game and play on insanity? Is that the easiest way to do it?

Somehow I missed the paramore trophy, not sure when it was to happen exactly. I thought I was romancing Jacob, who kept saying something like "We're cool Shepard, we light up drinks on the Citadel" (or something like that). I guess the impotent bast**d just wanted to drink lmao :D:D

I also still need to get the barrier warp trophy, armor incinerate trophy, and a few more multiple biotic hits on one target.

Overall, an awesome game that had a kickass final level with the exception of
[Show spoiler] the final boss (weaksauce IMO)
.

Yes you have to import to get to 30. I did it on the first mission.

Seems to me like these barrier/incinerate/biotic trophies are going to be the hardest for me to get. Mordin is worthless IMO and I believe he is the only one with an Incinerate power. The only way to get them is the hit has to wipe out the whole meter in one shot, or that's the way I understand it. Also the multiple biotic hits has to be timed just right or it won't count. I bet I've done it 50+ times and I've only had 9 or 10 that have actually counted.

In regards to the bolded, yes. You can import and you should reach Level 30 with the first mission or once you recruit Mordin. Then you can exit and start a playthrough on Insanity.

Okay, this is what I thought, if I'm understanding correctly.
[Show spoiler]I was trying to kill it from the initial platform that I entered the area on, but right before I ran out of time, having to prepare to leave for work, I noticed a marker for the Quarian marine (though not close enough to activate). I suspected I needed to advance and not kill the colossus yet. It fits in with the rest of this mission, where the waves just keep coming until you advance far enough, then they all stop.

There is a way to reach level 30 in one game, I found through research. I won't likely be able to do it, since I finished too many side missions already. But, supposedly, if you beat the game, then go do the Firewalker, Shadowbroker and Overlord missions, as well as a few N7 missions that you did not finish before the endgame, the XP bonus you get from beating the game will allow these missions to push you over the top.

Now, if you do this to reach level 30, but don't finish NG+ with that character, can you still import that character into ME3? This is a point of confusion for me. I somehow got the impression that you could only import a character for whom your last save was having beaten the game.

I used two rounds from the Cain and it did the trick. :D

I had Jacob saying that to me too but ended up with Thane.
[Show spoiler]Who's the person that showed up after the Joker's mission?

The incinerate trophy ws pretty easy for me. I took Mordin and Grunt with me for Grunt's loyalty mission where all the enemies were armored.

That's Tali's recruitment right? I'm about to start that mission. This time I'll get the Geth Pulse Rifle. Should be good for an Adept.

Yes, but you have to beat the game once already to get the XP bonus.

After that you can start a new game and the 25% XP bonus will EASILY get you to level 30 in one playthrough.

Simple as that.
