Without being mean of course!

FYI it's not random. You just don't have them join you, don't have them assigned to a specific task, and don't take the "big guns" with you to the final fight. Unfortunately I don't remember which ones are the big guns.

Zaeed and Grunt are two of the big guns. Icemage has better info. I have read of people still getting killed in that part though, so I do suspect its somewhat random.

Archangel, Warlord, Mercenary. With those three not in your combat lineup, you can support up to three disloyal team members and keep everyone alive as long as all of the specialists and team leaders you choose are loyal. You can do one more disloyal member if you never recruit the Master Thief, and another if you never recruit the Engineer.

It is not random at all, and has everything to do with who you leave behind to hold the defense.

Gotta say I was pretty disappointed in the power "deep stasis". For some reason after hitting an enemy with it, they freeze in a protective bubble and can't take any damage while frozen.:confused: Other than slowing down the pace of battle or giving yourself some time to find cover, what's the point?

Stasis is incredibly powerful.

Technique spoiler:
[Show spoiler]
(1) It takes enemies out of commission so you can beat up their friends. This is particularly handy when you're being rushed by huge swarms of opponents or have multiple powerful enemies. Try it on Garrus' loyalty mission against the two YMIR Mechs.

(2) It instantly kills Husks, even through armor.

(3) It instantly destroys Rocket Drones and Assault Drones without having to take down their shields. They get the "Stasis bubble" and then are destroyed immediately after Stasis wears off (or you use Stasis on something else).

(4) Enemies that come out of Stasis fall down. This is very potent against YMIR Mechs, which have a very long collapse/recover animation before they can resume hostilities, during which you can pummel them.

(5) It can buy you time against a variety of tough enemies/bosses to give you a breather and let you reload and/or regenerate shields.

Ok there you have it.

Nevertheless, everyone being loyal is best. :D

Please don't answer my question, if it's a big spoiler, but regarding this business of keeping everyone alive, do you really have to not have everyone die in battle? Do they just not revive at the end of the mission, like they do in earlier missions? That just seems hellaciously hard.

Or is it simply a matter of selecting loyal NPC's for the appropriate tasks?

I dont understand your question about not dieing in battle. If they die it occurs in a cutscene. If they die in an actual battle as your squadmate then they can be revived like they can in any other battle.
I am not completely sure if that is true, but I have done the final battle multiple times and had to revive squadmates like I would in any other mission. I will say that I looked at guides before hand so I made sure I did everything right so they would survive.

Do you understand my answer?

I found stasis a bit too slow for my taste. I prefer cryo ammo instead.

Guess I shouldn't have been too worried about Grunt's mission.
[Show spoiler]I only died a few times with the Varren:mad:. Wound up killing the Thresher Maw:headbang:

Just have Taylor's, Kasumi's and Zaeed's loyalty missions left than I can acquire the IFF and see if I can survive with no casualites.

Taylor? I don't remember him in the game.

EDIT: Never mind.... you were referring to Jacob. :unimpressed:

I think so. As long as you do things right before final mission, and you beat the game, everyone should survive, is what I understand.

Yes, survival is all about who you choose to do what and whether they are loyal instead of living or dying on that actual battlefield where you are in complete control.

Yeah, I was surprised at how painless a time I had with it on Insanity.

You really should have done Zaeed and Kasumi's missions right off the bat since they are easy and give a lot of credits. Not to mention the SMG you get from Kasumi's mission is damn good.

GLaDOS 02-10-2011 09:41 PM

Just want to give a heads up, when's the best time to start the Overlord mission, and is it hard on Insanity?

Beefbowl 02-10-2011 09:46 PM

Just took down two YMIR mechs by myself!

I just did Overlord on Insanity. It wasn't too bad. I just used Zaeed for Squad disruptor ammo and Garrus for Area overload, works well for the Geth.

See now I wonder
[Show spoiler]if by letting Archer keep his brother and getting more information on influencing the Geth, will it have some effect on ME3?

Yeah, I know doing Kasumi's mission is good for getting the SMG. I did it before my save got corrupted and just didn't want to do it over again. I used the Shuriken until I got the Tempest and it worked out just fine. I guess I could have done Zaeed's early on but just never did:shrug:
