I know you said you don't need a super laptop, but I hardly think mine could be able to play it. Nothing special about mine, just used for basic internet needs.

I'm still not sure how I feel about Soldier though. It definitely seems weird using guns all the time now. I miss using Biotic powers. Adrenaline Rush seems iffy, it doesn't give me much of an advantage. It's nice to use to line up headshots but when there are a lot of enemies shooting at me, it doesn't help.

Also you need to read the graphic novel Mass Effect Redemption. Its a prequel to ME2 and sets up the events for Lair of the Shadow Broker.

Yeah, I ordered that one as well. I believe it's 4 issues. I also got Ascension and Retribution.

Instead of planning to play, I've decided to watch a complete video walkthrough on Youtube. With all the great games coming, and a 13 inch PC display, I just can't see myself getting time for ME, either. And as spring approaches, I'll be spending more time on the weekends outside, instead of in the gaming chair. You have to be dedicated to gaming as your #1 hobby/recreation to play every game and read all supplemental material and see every supplemental movie.

You can do that, of course

But just play it. :D You wont regret it. Or maybe you will, I dont know.

But I often see it for $5 or less for digital release. Get it for that and take a chance, even if you dont have the PC you will have it for later.

But I still have RE5 sitting on my shelf unplayed!

Also, the end of Miranda's loyalty mission is REALLY hard, if you take Mordin. I brought him along to incinerate a few mechs. I didn't really think he was a strong choice. But actually, Miranda has been harder to keep alive.

At this point you should be mainly using Miranda and Thane. Garrus is also a good choice to help you deal with the shields.

I still don't understand the fascination with Mordin. He's just awful. Incinerate is his only useful ability, it only works on armor, he's fragile, and his damage output is minimal.

Do you guys like pain or something? :p There's a reason I rated Mordin as the only teammate with one star in my teammate spoiler way earlier in this thread.

His Cryo Blast is pretty good too, but I think he'd be a lot better on any level besides Insanity. Some powers just plain suck on insanity.

Cryo Blast isn't any better than similar incapacitating powers on unarmored targets (Throw, Pull, Singularity, Concussive Shot), and has absolutely no other side-effects other than a largely negligible damage boost. I say negligible because if you're capable to stripping off a target's armor and/or shields/barrier, taking out their health bar should be zero sweat in any case.

I see nothing redeemable about Mordin's power set, and Incinerate just isn't a good enough reason to bring him on any mission unless you want the Incinerate trophy. He can't use it often enough to earn his keep. The rest of his powers (Cryo Blast included) are mostly worthless on Insanity, and he does unremarkable amounts of damage with weaponry.

It comes down to player preference. Pretty much any power you pick, there's another power that can do it "better".

Sure, but when we're talking about squadmates, Mordin has one semi-useful power (Incinerate) and that's about it. He doesn't stack up against any of the other teammates, period. Incinerate does about as much damage as one heavy pistol headshot. Yay?

Against armored targets, Incendiary Ammo and Warp are reasonable (and often times better) alternatives to Incinerate. Incendiary Ammo is a use-once-and-stop-worrying-about it power. Warp blows up Pull/Shockwave/Singularity-borne targets and also damages armor and barriers.

Jacob's better than Mordin 100% of the time, and that's even before he gets his Barrier loyalty power. And Jacob isn't anywhere near being your best teammate (hint: Incendiary Ammo + Heavy Pistol = Incinerate, and he can still use Pull).

I don't know how you play your game but I use all of his powers. It's a lot quicker to use Incinerate to strip someone's armor instantly and then take them out than it is to sit there and try to take out their armor and health at the same time. I also find him far more useful than Jacob. He has Incendiary ammo but his ROF is so slow, why bother?

I'm not really liking Solder.

MerrickG 02-17-2011 09:52 AM

If you want to incinerate armor I use Zaeeds grenade. It does as much if not more damage as Mordin's incinerate, but Zaeed has much better firepower to complement that.

Kind of boring compared to the Vanguard and Adept huh?

Yeah, very. I hate just using guns but I'm trying to decide a better way to use Adrenaline Rush. I'm thinking that's what Storm Speed is now, it increases your speed when your in Adrenaline Rush(or maybe just speed overall). Now I'm trying to decide if I should go with Widow, Claymore, or the Revenant on the Collector Ship. I'm only on Horizon now but just thinking what kind of Soldier I want to play as. I'll probably skip the Widow since I can use that with Infiltrator.

If you're not liking the soldier, I don't think you'll enjoy the sentinel too much either.

Why? At least the Sentinel seems to be well rounded with powers and not just different ammo types.

I wasn't trying to stir up a debate. And I took him along NOT thinking he was the best choice. But I've never used him, and it was a chance to incinerate some armor. It was FOR FUN! Geez! I've already beat the game on insanity, and I have nothing to prove. The moment it becomes painful, I'll lower the difficulty and move on.

Most of the Sentinel's powers pretty much strips barrier/armor/shields but doesn't really have anything in their arsenal to kill off the enemy (unless you plan on doing a lot of Cryo blast/throw combo or pulse damage from Tech armor). So pretty much you'll be killing enemies with a submachine gun/pistol till you upgrade. At least you don't die as much :D
