I found the best squad members to be Grunt, Miranda, Thane and Garrus. Any combination of them can handle almost anything. Honorable mention goes to Mordin for his Incineration Blast skill

I like Garrus but good god does he get himself killed so easily. It seems like I am always having to revive him.

This is the worst advice I have ever seen. An Adept is best for people who have a good idea on how to play the game and fully understand what powers do what. They are just too fragile IMO. Dont get me wrong an Adept is awesome and a lot of fun but if you want to tackle the game at the higher difficulties immediately then a Sentinel or maybe a Soldier is a better choice.

I do agree with Beerbowl (:P) and Denoku that doing one playthrough as an Adept is a MUST.

Sentinel is best for novice due to its high survivability and gives a much higher margin of error and it gives an excellent range of different powers so you can be ready for any situation.

The bottom line:
The game can be beaten on Insanity with any class once you have figured out the ins and outs of the combat system and what your squadmates strengths are.

Its is generally accepted that Sentinels and Soldiers are the best for Insanity runs, while Vanguards and Adepts are the most difficult for insanity. There are those who strongly disagree.

Denoku 03-27-2011 08:46 PM

Having never played Mass Effect before, I went with Adept first on Veteran. So it's doable. I did watch a lot of videos though, to understand how to use it but it wasn't so bad. Adept on Insanity with a level 30 character was rough though. I wish I would have know about that:(

I think Miranda is the worse. She tends to ignore most of my orders.

Anyways beat the game on Insanity and finalyl got platinum! Between my 2 runs, Ive put about 95 hours into this game and STILL want to play it again with a new character but I will put it down for a bit and try to move onto something else. When I come back, Im thinking of doing an Infiltrator run or Adept. I already have Vanguard and Sentinel down

Thane was one of the best fragile characters when it came to avoiding getting killed. I just made sure I kept him at a farther distance behind me and he was gold.

People need to play this game to have fun and not to just beat the game. Yes, Sentinel will help you survive better but to me it's one of the most boring class out there. It's armor. Where's the fun in that?

From what I seen there's two of us that says Vanguard is a walk in the park and only you saying it's difficult. :p

Go to bioware forums and you will see that is the general concensus is what I am saying. Icemage also shares this opinion.

I'm not saying there is a right or wrong way with the class you choose. It's personal preference. I felt adept had too many powers I didn't use.

MerrickG 03-28-2011 12:04 AM

I am tempted to do another insanity run with fortification as my bonus power and soldier as my class.

I just played as a sentinel and its so much fun! I had a great time spamming out Warp and they also have access to other useful powers in Throw, Overload and Cryo Shot. You are selling it short by dismissing it as simply armor.

Ive only tried out 3 classes. This, Vanguard and Soldier and I have to say soldier was the most boring for me. I had the most fun with sentinel followed by vanguard.

I still haven't finished this game yet... :o

Soldier. Adrenaline Rush is an AWESOME power if paired with the widow sniper.

You can only get the widow sniper when you get advanced training. I wont say where that occurs.

Most of the powers can be found in all the classes, but when you compare their primary power, I would say it is the most boring. Starting out with a submachine gun doesn't help either. We all have our preference, I'm just telling you mine :p

Isn't that one of the guns you find on the
[Show spoiler]derelict Reaper ship?

Yes, its also Legions exclusive gun.

Only a soldier or an Infiltrator can use the Widow Sniper with advanced training.

It can do SOO much headshot damage on those big targets.

That's what I thought. On my first playthrough I picked up that assault rifle but if I ever get back to finishing my 2nd playthrough Im going to pick up the Widow.
