Quick question, just finished my first playthrough of Mass Effect 2 and when you Import for the second playthrough can you change class? My first playthrough was soldier now I want to try engineer

No. If you import a ME2 character then whatever class you were, you're stuck with.

Mr. J is right. If you start a new class you lose all the experience.

BUT

BUT

If you are on a second playthrough you still do get the XP, cash and mineral bonuses so you can get leveled up pretty quickly regardless of whether or not you are importing.

Hmm, looks like I'll be starting playthrough 3 as Sentinel then :)

Are there any differences between male and female Shepherds (other than who you can romance)? Better health, shields etc. or are they basically the same. Only played as a female Shepherd so far but if I want access to Miranda's goodies I'm going to have to play as male :D I just couldn't bring myself to romance one of the male characters so still don't have that trophy, a shame you don't get it for Kelly

No difference between the male and female Shepard other than their gender.

Have fun playing the first half of the game with sentinel :p

You could have romanced Samara.

I only played Adept, Vanguard and Soldier. I actually didn't even finish Soldier. After the adrenaline rush of Adept on insanity with a level 30 character, Soldier was too boring. Vanguard for me was a cakewalk on insanity and insanely fun!

I played them all. Soldier, sentinel, engineer are my least favorite. Adept and vanguard are my favorites.

Soldier is without a doubt the most boring class of them all. Adept is amazing because of all the powers you have and Sentinel is only good for Insanity. Anything lower and its overkill.

you're just a walking tank with Sentinel on normal difficulty.....a little too freakin' easy :hmph:

I'm pretty sure I chose Adept, I've got the anti-blackhole thing that lifts enemies up and pushes them away and some other homing energy beam that just does damage.

The first is Singularity, the second is Warp. Combine for an explosive boom that more or less wipes out everything nearby (watch carefully as enemies get a blue glow while floating under the influence of Singularity; hit them with Warp while that's up to trigger the combo).

ah thanks. not sure my guy charges fast enough to do that yet but maybe the Convict girl can combo with me.

Miranda and Thane both have Warp. You can also combo with Jacob, the Convict, or the Justicar using their Pull ability + Warp.

Technically you can also try to combo someone floating because of Shockwave, but in practice the timing is pretty annoying, especially considering how inconsistent Shockwave is at hitting humanoid-sized enemies.

In any case, upgrading Singularity makes it last longer (and therefore becomes easier to combo with yourself).

Monkey 05-24-2011 10:39 PM

Cool, thanks. I haven't upgraded anything yet so that will be the first thing I do.

Denoku 05-25-2011 01:52 AM

I think playing as Adept, Miranda and Thane are you're best teammates. That's just my personal opinion. Miranda is nice since she has Warp and Overload. Then Thane's got Warp and Throw which combo well with Adept all around. I never really use Jack though. Shockwave never really seemed useful and I hated her face.

AikonEnt 05-25-2011 05:46 PM

Hmm, think I'll go with Adept instead :)

Adept is fun, but its VERY tough on Insanity.

Doable but tough.

Not sure that's totally accurate. Engineer is difficult on Insanity. Adepts are fine except for the handful of battles where you only have a single enemy with tons of defenses (the first YMIR mech is surprisingly annoying as an Adept, the two during Archangel's loyalty mission are a bit scary). Lair of the Shadow Broker's last battle is also disgustingly tedious as an Adept.

I concur. I don't think I would choose it for my first Insanity game (coming for the person who played his first game on Insanity).

However an Adept is a must play though.

I still stand by playing as a Sentinel for an Insanity run, but it was a pain in the ass until you got your advanced weapon training due to weak weapons.

AikonEnt 05-26-2011 06:13 PM

What about Infiltrator class? Is that a viable option for Insanity?

I think I'll start Insanity as an Adept and see how I go, if I start getting my ar$e handed to me I might drop the difficulty down to minimum and play it through just for fun :) Then try Sentinel ;)

Before you start playing Adept on Insanity, make sure you have around $40-$50 set aside. I think thats the cost of new controllers now....

Inflitrator is actually a GREAT class and I am surprised it doesn't get more love in this thread.

The cloak is a GREAT option to help you line up some killer headshots and quickly escape danger. It also has a larger weapon selection than the other classes aside from Soldier.

I recommend a defensive power (barrier, geth shield boost or fortification) as your bonus power though.

The reality is that any class can be won on insanity, but on Insanity you absolutely MUST know how to micromanage your squad and know which squad has the best powers for which situation. Understanding what powers do what and which squadmates do what is the key to survival.

The hard parts on Insanity are going to be hard no matter which class you use.
