Nice. I played the first ME and didn't like it at all (gameplay is boring), but the videos of ME2 look really good.

It will be interesting to see if they simply port it over or really polish it up to take advantage of the PS3's advantages. Higher Qualitty audio, graphics, etc please.

The other games that I really wish I had a 360 for are Alan Wake (ok, sounds like a rental but it looks cool and I want to play it) and Left4Dead games.

In my own personal estimation, Mass Effect 2 is a better game than all of the former would-be exclusives that ended up on the 360.

Finally.

But I have to agree, if this is JUST ME2 you are going to miss out on a lot, due to how intricately ME2 is tied into decisions from ME1.

Oh my goodness.....I can't believe this is actually being put on the PS3. That is great news. This is one of my favorite 360 titles of all time, along with Gears of War. I'll definitely be buying this on day one, even though I already beat it on the 360.

It looked amazing on the 360, just imagine how great it'll look on the PS3!!!

Oh, and the best part of all, everything is going to be all in one disc. :D

I just really hope they capitalize to the PS3's advantages and not just a sloppy port. Superior audio, video and smoother framerate should happen but will it??

I think so. BioWare did an outstanding job with their first PS3 game Dragon Age: Origins, and it had superior visuals compared to the 360 despite running a bit slower. I think BioWare will handle this port well.

Oh my goodness, I am just ecstatic about this news. I mean, who would've expected this?....

Bioware repeatedly dropped accidental hints that they've been working on this title for quite some time, which might mean it's not even a port. It could be built from the ground up.

I am stoked that I'm finally gonna be able to play this game after the amazing reviews and the incredible story and gameplay that I've seen. This along with Dead Space 2 will satisfy my craving for good SCI FI action come this January.

The official announcement says it will include hours of bonus content, could be something new or is the DLC already going to be included? I just hope it's something special to bridge the gap between the first one and this one, since we are probably not going to get ME1.

doctorD 08-17-2010 06:18 PM

This is awesome news. It is too bad that the first game was not announced as well. Having played both on PC, being able to have ME1 decisions impact the way ME2 starts was awesome. But cool news...I may pick this up and play on PS3 again for the trophy's.

I have ME2 on the XBox. I guess I should play it. I tried playing ME1 but couldn't get into it. The gameplay wasn't that great and I found the shooting wasn't even close to the fun of any of my other shooters so I quit playing.

STARSCREAM 08-17-2010 06:26 PM

Great News! However, I think it's a terrible decision not to also have the first game as well.

Mass Effect 2 is better. Some will agree and some won't, but I can tell you that the shooting is Mass Effect 2 is better. The reticule doesn't expand as you shoot, spraying your shots everywhere. Give it a shot

Great news about ME2. Will be getting this.

I totally agree with you on the shooting in ME2 being better than ME1 but the storyline in 1 was well done as well as the tie in of ME1 into ME2 if you chose to play that way. I liked personally liked having my ME1 Finale decision affect how ME2 started. But that's just me...

So guys, will you be buying/playing the game a second time?

I'd consider it if they ever bring the first to the PS3; otherwise I've a mountain of other games to explore.

Having played both ME1 and ME2, I do like the game concept, especially being developed as a trilogy. However, even though some play mechanics on ME2 are better than ME1, others aren't as good. I have played ME2 from scratch and using an imported ME1 character as well. I do like the expanded story that you get from pulling the history from the first game.

The reason that the reticule expand as you shoot in ME1 is because your character has not been as well trained on the weapon as he should be yet. As you train your character on a weapon type, the reticule won't expand as much and your shots are more group together to show that your character has become more efficient at using the weapon. I also like this because, it shows you where your shots are hitting so you can compensate.

Another thing that I like better with ME1 is that you can use more than 1 power back-to-back of each other. The cooldown period only apply to the power that you've just used and not to all of your powers.

Also, ME1 allow you to equip special ammo as part of your inventory and the special ammo doesn't eat up one of your power slot on your power wheel.

Finally, having the ability to buy and sell items that you find allow you to better upgrade your armor. I like the idea of being able to swap out more armor as well instead of working with one basic shell and swap out attachments.

Looking forward to ME3 and importing my ME2 character into that game.
