In light of Dave6's comments I am going to just say this.

I played the game as a strict paragorn and NEVER once did I ever have the charm option greyed out in a conversation. I didnt do anything fancy, I just stuck to being a paragorn and the bar got full WELL before the final mission.

The main thing to do is this:

1. Pick one way and STICK with it. Going back and forth (Ive read) will make it virtually impossible to
[Show spoiler]keep everyone loyal

2. Max out your character class power (requires 10 points) as soon as possible and it will give a nice bonus to your Paragorn/Renegade score. Ex. Sentinel has a class power called Defender; Soldier-Combat Mastery.

3. TALK TO YOUR SQUADMATES AFTER every mission and say nice/mean things and you should get between 2-4 paragorn/renegade points after every conversation. That will add up rather quickly.

If you do the above, you will NEVER fail a charm/intimidate option conversation or lose
[Show spoiler]squad loyalty and will be able to use the charm option and keep both happy

Once I got my paragorn meter completely full, only then did I start using more renegade options. On
[Show spoiler]Thane's loyalty mission being the bad cop is much more fun

Well yes, you can still finish the game, but you just wont get the "mega happy ending"

Dave_6 01-31-2011 02:42 PM

Well it's what I get for my first time playing the game and not knowing anything. :D Guess that's what is rewarding about playing thru it multiple times. Hopefully I can remember all this when I play it for the 2nd time.

Installing now:ohnoes:

I will add that it would be nice if the game added a balanced class so you CAN have the option of being mixing it up between renegade and paragorn. Sort of like how Fallout 3 has neutral karma and specific perks that go with that.

Remember you are playing a game that is also an RPG which means conversations and dialogue are very important.

I was the same the first time around, i think its the best way to play it, i just answered things how i would if i was Shep.
The second time around though i messed up and had an unloyal member on my Insanity playthrough so i missed out on the no one gets left behind trophy.
So im now on my third playthrough for that one trophy:rolleyes: im flying through it on the easiest difficulty. not challenging at all but good fun ploughing the enemys no probs.
I have all members loyal and ready to start the suicide mission so should have Platinum very soon:D....unless theres something ive over looked:ohnoes:

True, but in most RPG's, the choice of lawful/unlawful, good/evil is usually more clear, and the former doesn't really even come into play here. It doesn't make sense that to be the Paragon (good I am supposing) you need to handle your crew's daddy issues sensitively. I guess it's better to look at Paragon/Renegade as more Sensitive/Stern, since being a no-nonsense commander and expecting professional behavior from your crew does not make one a bad guy, and in many instance would improve your chances of success, which clearly it does not in this game.

I found it very difficult to choose which was a Paragon or Renegade response. it wasnt until halfway through mt 2nd playthrough i realised as a general rule Paragon is top right, renegade is bottom right and middle is neutral, i was a bit slow there:rolleyes:

That was kinda my problem. My main problem was not knowing anything about the game, so I didn't want to piss anyone off or be a kiss-ass. :p

Regardless, this has been one of my fav gaming experiences in a long while.

I always went with renegade because shepard is a lot more funnier. I found Paragon boring compared to renegade.

I sympathize. I noticed right away that I couldn't figure out the appropriate choice by reading them, since I was trying to choose paragon options, but got an occasional renegade point. So I asked here earlier.

Seriously, though,
[Show spoiler]why should I care about an indentured servant who gambled away her own money only to borrow more and gamble it away again?

I love the Renegade options. They seem to appeal to my senses and it's typically always a response that I might give someone in real life :p

Snake_XRS 01-31-2011 04:27 PM

I think Bioware needs to either get rid of the romance aspect of the game or seriously improve it/grow it up. It's WAY too Disney-ish compared to all the other adult themes the game explores( interstellar-espionage, politics, prison breaks, assassinations, race-related themes, etc.) Everything about it is pure cheese, and really breaks the flow of the game up in its current form. Laying in bed and "hugging" with full armor and battlesuits is ridiculous, coming out of the shower in Normandy gear is unreal, etc.

Everything else in the game is so top notch, I would prefer them to either scrap the idea in it's current form or kick it up to Heavy Rain level of seriousness.

On that note, i'd also like to see the outfit/armor customization really grow. For a game that takes 50 hours to beat, having 4 outfits on the Normandy and a handful of different armor types gets pretty old.

You need either
[Show spoiler]Samara or Jack to be loyal or you are guaranteed to lose one of your teammates when you need a biotic specialist. Sorry, bro. Better luck next time.

Oh well. How are we supposed to know this kind of stuff beforehand?
