Just curious here, but how was it dated? Even if it was, I'm not sure how that detracts from the game. I guess God of War III's gameplay is outdated since it's still similar to the first one. Sure it may be a little different but basically still the same thing.

I would actually say by that logic half the games out right now are outdated.

I would like to know the answer to that question as well. MGS4 was the first MGS game I ever played (not counting a little bit of the beginning of MGS2) and it was absolutely amazing.

Yeah I was going to bring this up, not sure about the revelance but whatever. MGS has improved over the years with every game. Though some may be small but between MGS2 and MGS3 there were vast differences. Even between MGS3 and MGS4 there it's totally different. Instead of having a fixed camera view that we can only pan up,down, left, and right a little we now have total control of what we look at. I guess this would be included with that but the 3rd person over the shoulder view. A huge upgrade in the MGS series being able to actually aim like that, considering the past 3 games. More moves, more guns, octocamo, the whole game is gameplay. First time I remember seeing this in a game, where there are no cut-scenes, everything you see is gameplay and not a recorded video. I'm sure it was done in something else but this was the first for me. MGS4 was pretty much an improvement in everyway from where it has came. I thought the over the shoulder view was fairly new, since it was introduced in RE4. I don't see how it's dated.

I'd hate to be one of those people that always complain about having a huge backlog and rushing through games to just to move onto the next. I can't do that, that would be a waste of a good game and my money. I would think they would, if all else fails maybe I can play at a friends house.

I think there is more then enough 'must play' xbox titles to justify a console purchase, though if you already own a ps3 I would actually get a wii before a 360 due to the large overlap in games between the ps3 and 360.

That is not the issue. Like I said it's having enough time to play all of the games. I don't want to end up with a huge backlog like some other people and rush through games to move to the next one. I feel like I would be wasting my money and missing out on the true experience of the game. I already have the Wii and have had it for a while but I rarely play it. I just can't justify the purchase of an Xbox for a few good exclusives. There are other reasons why I haven't, one being the 42% failure rate. That really doesn't make me want to buy one either. I'm perfectly happy with my PS3 for now and I am probaly missing some great games but oh well ignorance is bliss. 3 systems seems overwhelming to me, maybe I'm wrong.

I don't find it overwhelming, but I got a wii for free (long story). In my opinion the Super Mario Galaxy games (there are plenty of other great games to, mostly not aimed at adults, but some clearly are [Madworld]) alone make the Wii worth a purchase. The 360 is good, and has some great games, but in terms of exclusives it is well behind the ps3 in terms of quality exclusives.

I understand what your saying though, you like to take your time (I usually do to, but I've picked up far to many games as I could get them very cheaply and ended up not playing some of them much as I simply was bored by them (army of two, cough, Halo Wars, cough). However if a game trully gravs me I can play for far to long (Killzone 2, Final Fantasy XIII, Battlefield Bad Company 2 Uncharted 2, Modern Warfare 2 all have 50+ hours played on them by me :ohnoes:) I just like having all three as I like having the boundries removed of not bieng able to play the game I want to as I don't have the console. I do think the ps3 has more then enough for most gamers though. Just wondering, if Dead Space was only available on the 360, would you buy a 360?

Says you. I found it an utter yawn fest, and NOTHING WHATSOEVER like the game that was promised a few years ago. That game I would have loved. What we got? Not so much.

Alan Wake was a huge letdown to me. Weak repetitive combat in an endless forest.

And yes, I realize there are other parts, but just not enough of them.

If someone wanted to buy a 360 JUST FOR Alan Wake, they are making a monumental mistake IMHO.

*EDIT* I was looking at reviews, and it's fascinating that a game can get a ton of 90+s AND a ton of 70- reviews simultaneously. That says to me it's a love-it-or-hate-it game, and that's probably not what you'd call a system seller.

Come on, you know what I meant. Bungie separated 3 years ago but until the Activision announcement they were still completely Microsoft exclusive. That didn't happen 3 years ago.

It's like saying Insomniac games has been multiplatform forever, because Sony never owned them, in spite of the fact that they never used any other publisher, and only recently announced multiplatformivity.

I think so too. Both have their cool stuff, like Valkyria Chronicles on the Ps3 and Tales of Vesperia on the 360 (outside Japan). When it comes to big parties, both consoles are pretty much on equal playing grounds.

I think buying any console just for one game is pretty nutty.

What other games were they developing bar for a franchise of which the IP was already owned by Microsoft? Of course they were still going to be Microsoft exclusive with that.

There were games with better cover and obstacle traversal mechanics already out by the time MGS4 came along. It didn't offer much new to the table other than more polished graphics and better sound (I loved the sound). As for God of War III, I've yet to play it. I played the demo and, though I liked it, I didn't love it. It felt like the same old game with a new coat of paint. I am going to get it once it hits $20 (because I do enjoy the series) but it's far from a priority.

But 99% of those titles are on the PS3. The lack of exclusives is the Xbox360's problem.

With Mass Effect going to the PS3, I'm running out of reasons to keep the 360. This year I only played two games on the 360, Mass Effect 2 and Splinter Cell.

Who in the world said that Alan Wake is a system seller? Who mentioned anyone buying a 360 for Alan Wake?

Ok, so you didn't enjoy Alan Wake....so what? I did! Did I ever say it was the best 360 exclusive? No! I said it was not a let down. Others will agree. Some won't agree! Its all opinion based!

I think buying any console just for one game is pretty nutty.

If there was one game that might make it worth it would be Mass Effect 2.

I enjoyed Alan Wake also.

The argument over which system has better exclusives is pointless.

As fanboys we have a tendency to overvalue our exclusives. Halo with the 360 fanboys and Killzone/Resistance with the PS3 fanboys when in fact Killzone/Resistance and Halo/Gears of War are more or less THE SAME GAME!!! They both do similar things and they both are very fun to play. If I take off my console fanboy tinted glasses I can see that both games are pretty much on par with eachother.

So Mass Effect 2 is now coming out on PS3

Let's hope Gears Of War and Splinter Cell : Conviction comes out on PS3 now :)

Gears Of War 1-3 won't. Future installments maybe though.

Splinter Cell usually makes the jump from XBox to Sony consoles, so maybe next year.

I agree. Gears Of War is published by Microsoft so don't count on it (for now ;)), but Splinter Cell could make its way to the PS3.

I dont think Gears of War will ever come to a Sony console since I am willing to bet that MS would pay any amount of money that Epic demanded to keep it exclusive.

SPlinter Cell is very likely.
