What error? I never noticed one.

I'm guessing maybe the fact that camera pans away from a planet to the Enterprise but then it pans back as it tracks the Enterprise prepping to go into warp and voila! No planet!

Check from 20-50 seconds in this video:

If that's what FruityOatyBar is talking about then according to that video, no, they didn't change it.

Ah yes, "Code of Honor"...the one episode Jonathan Frakes (and maybe even Roddenberry) decried as the most racist story in "Star Trek". Personally, I never saw it that way. Its not one of my favorites, but it was far from the worst IMO.

It's definitely the worst episode I've seen, though I haven't seen them all. There is very little defending it, but it's okay not to be horribly offended by it either.

Did the last few months of this thread disappear?

The site's server crashed, and wiped out most of the last 7 weeks.

I never even looked at it as racist until someone mentioned it too me, but it was usually an episode I liked to skip over, just not that good, somewhat silly for a culture that technologically advanced to behave like that.

Anywhoo.... I see we are missing a few months of posts.. someone needs to get that picture up of the film negative with all the aspect ratios ASAP. :)

No that's not what I'm referring to.

It's tough to see in that video but from 0:25 - 0:28 there is pan across the ringed planet. The stars between the rings and the planet don't move in the same direction/path as the stars that surround the planet. It looks like they are on a different plate than the rest of the shot.

Definitely a minor quibble but it's annoyed me for years. This seems like the perfect opportunity to fix it and active "original intent."

P.S. I can't tell you how happy I am that the past 7 weeks of drivel have been removed from this post. Yay!

You mean "thread", and I digress it wasn't all drivel.

Sooo much nicer without that. Those dudes need their own forum for that discussion.

The complete series

Are there any plans to relese the entire series in one complete set on blu ray?

Actually, there's at least one other example in the series of a race that has technology, but not the development to match it. I remember the episode where the group of aliens capture Geordi and want him to "make them go". All of their technology was basically ripped off through ruses and kidnapping.

Moviefan2k4 06-09-2012 08:00 PM

One of my favorite "issue centric" episodes was when the crew visited a planet where the people were the results of genetic engineering, and Geordi befriends one of the scientists. It also has one of my favorite lines in the series...

"Oh, this is perfect...if the solution to all of this lies in a device made for a blind man, that wouldn't exist in your society."

Bit early to be talking about a complete set, they have only just started work on Season 2 so a complete set is several years away yet.

Of course. But you'll have to wait until season seven is released which will be late 2014 at the earliest. Most likely early 2015.

Start saving! :D

Now, don't be rude. Some of us had very valid points. :D

Moviefan2k4 06-10-2012 01:45 AM

Strictly speaking, the original broadcast ratio was 4x3; that's what it was aired in, and that's how it should stay. 1.33:1, fullscreen, whatever you want to call it, that's it. 16x9 would require a lot of zooming and cropping.

"Captain... have you been getting the feeling that you've experienced certain things before? A sense of... repetition?"

chestnu1 06-10-2012 02:43 AM

My issue in the aspect ratio wars was that it seemed like the same points just kept being brought up again and again. Just let this whole thing end.

Now let me contribute something new to discussion fathom events is having screening of two next gen Blu-ray episodes in theaters along with some featurettes on the restoration. More information is here http://www.ign.com/articles/2012/06/...ng-to-theaters

Anyone thinking of going?

Yeah, but it just went on way too long, got too technical, and became extremely repetitive. Everything in moderation...
