Same here ;)

(as long as GL doesn't manage to sneak in a "noooooo" somewhere...)

A replica of the arc with the set inside would be pretty cool.

I'll be happy with just the discs, thanks. I don't even care about the packaging since I'll be doing my own for it anyway.

...in order to get rid of KOTCS?

Can't wait to pick these up! I have been waiting for a long time hopefully no changes this time. ;)

'Raiders of the Lost Ark' is being shown at my local picture house soon - I'll let you all know how it goes.

How awesome would that be...saving it for one of the last moments of the trilogy...:)
Lucas would love it.

Nope. I like KOTCS just fine. It's because:

a) they will insist on the stupid re-titling of Raiders
b) it will probably be in a digipack, which I hate and
c) it probably won't use the original art.

I don't like bulky cases, digibooks, or digipacks, so anything that shows up in them gets chucked in a box, and I put the discs in a viva elite or vortex case with custom art. Often my own, but sometimes others'.

You're getting ahead of yourself.

I suspect the box will look very close to the Star Wars set from last year.

Agreed. I love the packaging on the Alien and Star Wars sets. So I hope that's what happens.

aiman04 03-20-2012 11:06 PM

Paramount usually uses amaray cases in a slipbox, right?

Not necessarily since it was Fox distributing it and the packaging was a variation on what they already had done for the Alien Anthology.

Paramount hasn't put out too many deluxe sets, so it may just end up being a plain 4-disc ELITE/Vortex with a slipcover and a booklet.

Yeah, but since it's Lucasfilm they tend to control all aspects of stuff like that. At least I hope that remains the norm.

I'd be very surprised if that was how it was released. Not that I'm discounting that theory! I just think with the high fan interest, that the studio would be inclined to award this set some nice packaging.
Again, doesn't really matter to me...I'm more concerned about:
1) What's on the discs
2) How well they perform

I really don't think so. I refuse to have something saying "Indiana Jones and the Raiders of the Lost Ark" on my shelf, and we know they're going to pull that crap.

I'm all for going with the original title, but this is taking it to the next level. It's still the same in the title cards. And you can always get a custom cover, if they're using standard packaging.

I am keeping an eye out hoping it will be shown here.

Can't wait for this looks good

BStecke 03-21-2012 05:15 PM

I'll have to remember that

Which is exactly what I said I was doing in my first post, and was called out for it. You can see my versions of these in the custom cover thread.

I'm curious if they'll still put the changed title on the case for Raiders. I personally never minded it; I always figured it was just to make it so if someone wanted to rent the movies they wouldn't have to go to the R section for Raiders and then the I section for the sequels. As long as it's not changed in the movie, I'm fine with it.

Well, Spielberg said he wouldn't alter his films anymore (there's even the rumor that the blu-ray versions won't even have the digital touch-ups the DVDs did, although I'm all for fixing little flubs like like the reflection of the cobra in the glass), so I would assume the "new" title (even if its just on the case) would constitute a change. Hope they leave it as "Raiders."
