My take, of course.

Okay then, understood. :)

I don't understand your constant need to be staunchly opposed to everything and everyone who you disagree with. There can be no compromise or understanding can't there?

*applause*

Here is something we all can agree on: These reviews are hilarious!

I haven't watched this one, but are these the same guys that reviewed the Star Wars PT? I would say their reviews would hold a LOT more legitimacy if they didn't do them in strange voices. While I find a lot of their points vaild, their character voices just annoy the hell out of me which makes their reviews almost as unwatchable as the last half of KotCS (or any movie featuring Dane Cook).

I don't recall so much protest about the inclusion of the 4th movie with the Alien set. It's not as if Resurrection is that great of a sequel. And KOTC is certainly not a disaster - not on par with the first three, perhaps, and certainly has its faults, but far from a disaster.

first 30 mins of crystal skull starts off well then its downhill from there

I think the issue here is really about having to double dip rather than the quality of the film in question. Alien 4 wasn't released on blu ray as the only Alien title for 2 years, then added into the complete anthology.

I mean honestly, how could someone buy KotCS and NOT expect to being forced to own it again when the rest of the series comes out? Like it or not, the titles is: 'Indiana Jones & the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull' and it IS part of the series. The problem is that most blu ray consumers lack patience.

Personally, I would prefer that the 4th wasn't included, simply because the first 3 are near-perfect, in my opinion. But the 4th was still pretty fun, albeit a bit overwrought, so I won't complain too much about it being included.

I agree, Beast does criticize RedLetterMedia'a reviews yet he hasn't really watched them, be they for Star Wars or Indy. While I agree that some of the tone of the 'entertaining' segments reviews isn't to everyone's tastes the points made are usually very valid and he does know what he's talking about film theory-wise. His Star Trek reviews are excellent but it does seem the worse the films are the better the reviews are. With the Crystal Skull review there isn't as much meat as The Phantom Menace review. I still think the main problem with Skull is that the MacGuffin is the whole movie from beginning to end unlike the three previous films where the artefacts are proper MaGuffins.

As for Skull been including it is a pain for people who've already bought the set and the upcoming box set doesn't offer the value for money the Bond collection does (which are 4-5 pounds a film in the UK). As for me I don't have Skull on Blu but I'd imagine it won't be the last time it's included in an Indy box set. Also Paramount should eventually release the older titles individually if they match their DVD strategy. But I don't think anyone will want to wait!

I agree. I bought Crystal Skull knowing eventually there would be a box set down the line, so I waited until I could get it relatively cheap. We all knew that a box set would be coming down the line of the whole series. So it was up to each person's discretion if they bought it or not, and if they'd be willing to double dip on it.

TylerDurden 04-10-2012 04:33 PM

Never bought KotCS so no double dip for me :)

Yep! I have zero problem with placing my KotCS Limited 2-disc edition right next to the 4-movie set. Can't wait to do that as a matter of fact! :D

I already own KotCS and I don't really mind to much, I bought it pretty cheaply so it's doesn't bother me. Or atleast not on the same level as buying Toy Story 1 for 15,- and then getting the 3D release for 30,-... But what ya gonna do...

Imm0ral Knight 04-10-2012 05:25 PM

I'm definitely getting this collection. I love the series.

Looking at the avatars of the staunchest apologists of the Skull double-dip it makes perfect sense. :p

I'm assuming you're lumping yourself in with the Skull apologists, seeing as you own it. :p

Same here, because I knew this 1-4 set would arrive eventually.

Me too. I didn't think it was a very good movie to begin with (its decent, but not something I felt compelled own right away). Plus, I sorta knew a boxed set of the entire series would eventually come.

gregmasciola 04-10-2012 09:00 PM

When I originally bought Crystal Skull on Blu-Ray, I knew a complete set would come eventually, so I can't really complain about double-dipping. I'll just make sure I get the set at a price that seems decent for 3 movies (somewhere around $50).

Mahatma 04-10-2012 09:09 PM

I wish I could hold out for individual releases so I can get the first and the third, but guess I'm gonna splurge day one on this-mainly for the first which I have seen a gazillion times allready, and probably gonna watch one more time before burying it for the next few years:o Oh well, atleast they're on the way.

BTW:To those who thinks they will never be released individually,I can (almost;) ) stake my life on that.
