Looks like the US is getting book packaging ala Star Wars and the Alien Anthology. A first for Paramount I believe.

Veddy nice if that is indeed the case. I'm down!

Yep thanks. But the picture was broken when linked, so I posted the image's URL.

It looks like we could expect specs/pics next week during Comic Con.

Oh wait... no. Those aren't books like Alien Anthology. They are the 'Planet Earth Special Edition' type books, which means the discs go in the sides of the pages, as opposed to having a cutout for the discs in the middle of the page. I find this kind of packaging to be hit or miss... usually scratches can be more frequent and sometimes the edges of the discs get little dents in them. If you get a flawless set you'll be fine, but there will be a lot of factors between factory to your house...

I'm just going to have to remain cautiously optimistic.

Interesting....looks like we'll have to wait and see. It looks like the Uni's Hitchcock set has this type of book packaging as well.

Ugh. HATE the packaging. Guess I'll get it from the UK.

Snowmaker 07-06-2012 11:44 PM

Dammit! I'm so sick of that type of packaging! I cannot stand my Planet Earth one especially. The disk go in so far you can't even get them out.

hedliniv 07-07-2012 09:58 AM

So what? It's the same as the DVD set. The name is changed on the case, but not in the film.

Because it's far more profitable to bundle popular movies of a series (Raiders, Last Crusade) with their unpopular counterparts (Temple of Doom, Crystal Skull) in a box set. Note that it took 5 years after the release of the 2003 box set for the 3 original Indiana Jones films to be sold separately on DVD. It probably won't take as long this time, but who knows...
