I was hoping the set came with live snakes! That would be interesting!

Don't feel like you're missing out. The hashtag twitter joke thing was old at LEAST over a year ago.

You can buy Blu-ray cases on ebay pretty cheap. I'm sure someone on here will whip up some good cover art. Sure it'll cost you a couple bucks extra, but I guess the value in that is up to you.

And I don't need a DIY "art" project for my blu-ray storage needs either.

Suit yourself, just offering a suggestion. 15 minutes is a lot of time, after all.

the packaging is basically identical to the star wars complete saga, its prob a George Lucas thing, who really knows... I really liked the way LOTR was released in 3 individual black blu-ray cases. but anway I managed to pre-order the I.J. set for 65 dollars after a generous $9.40 promotional certificate from amazon

And where would someone get this promo certificate?

Zen_Amako 07-17-2012 06:35 PM

I'm going to wait on this one until I can get Raiders individually or the whole collection for a good price (like a BF deal). There are so many other releases coming out this fall. Plus I popped in the DVD a few days ago, and it looked pretty good to me upscaled. If the DVDs looked like crap, that would be one thing. But since this will just be an upgrade for me, I think I will be able to wait.

The restored Raiders that was broadcast on a Japanese network completely blows away the DVD. It's not even funny. This is going to be a huge upgrade on BD.

I was never super impressed (even back in 2003) with the DVD particularly because of the excessive edge enhancement. By comparison, I thought The Enmpire Strikes Back DVD looked much more film-like and less processed.

amazon messed up on my order for Down By Law (bluray, criterion collection) and as compensation they gave me a $9.40 promotional certificate. I hoping that the price for the set goes down a little bit more. Im hoping they discount the set to 30% up from the 25% it is at now.

on a side note my biggest issue with this sort of packaging is that it is hard to lend someone any of the I.J. in the set cuz they come in individual-as i don't carry spare cases on me...

Hoping for an image of the Jumbo Steelbook soon :)

Alphamale87 07-18-2012 04:05 AM

I see these are getting released individually in 2013, so holding off on this a lil longer won't hurt. I only want Raiders, Temple of Doom, and The Last Crusade. The man in the hat is back :whip:

Interesting...

I still think I like the US packaging.

Who wants to open that accordion-like package every time you want a disc?

People who want their discs to not be possibly scratched every time they remove them from the flimsy paper-board sleeves of the US release?

Which does not happen with this kind of packaging as some people tend to exclaim.

Sorry, but if book editions scratch your disc you are doing something wrong.

So I was doing something wrong when I had to return/replace the Star Wars Saga Box Set to Amazon 3 times, before I decided to buy it in-store at Best Buy and had to do the same thing(return/replace) 1 last time, before I got all 9 Discs without a scratch?
