Sell the others. I will probably sell Doom.

Good luck selling "disc only." There won't be individual cases.

People on eBay will buy anything, I have sold a fair few of the DVD's that came with my BD's as disc only.

Anyone know who worked on the HD master of the last crusade and the temple of doom (Laser Pacific, Lowry, MPI,...)?

Lowry did the digital restoration work for those.

I believe Lowry only worked on the HD masters intended for DVD back in 2003 -- the same ones commonly broadcast on USA and SyFy. The classic films were going to have a late 2009 Blu-ray trilogy release that was scrapped at the last second... and those (I'm assuming) 2K scans were done on a Northlight scanner made by Filmlight (possibly also at LaserPacific). http://www.filmlight.ltd.uk/pdf/misc...ghtCredits.pdf

These newer 2009 scans are noticeably better than the Lowry masters and were broadcast on the Japanese satellite network WOWOW -- and those I believe are the transfers of Doom and Crusade that we're going to see on the Blu-rays in September.

Just finished watching temple of doom on USA, still can't understand for the life of me why some people have a problem with that movie. I think it's on par with the other two films and still an exciting thrill ride!

I think the main reason is because Temple of Doom centers on a mythical cult known as the Thugee while the first and third films focus on the Nazis, which actually existed.

The Thugee were not mythical: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Thugee

I should have been more specific. They didn't exist in the 1930s. As the article points out they were wiped out by the early 1900s.

For me it is all because of the annoying side characters-- I don't like Willie, and to a lesser extent Short-Round, and they are in most of the film.

Actually, the Nostalgia Critic did a great video about the movie recently which I recommend, although I don't actually dislike the film as much as he does.

Right, because most people watch Indiana Jones movies for their factual accuracy. Like "Adolph" Hitler!

You mean that guy was REAL!

Temple Of Doom is a hard sell some places (the culture shock is just too much from some). I'll have to check out that review later.

I think I may watch Temple of Doome later!

Yes! I only know this because I'm reading this excellent(although several years old) trilogy about the Knights Templar by Robyn Young and they make a small mention of them and how they were tied to the Hashashin Cult(Assassin). :)
Plus let's be honest...if it was the true Thugee Cult Indy was dealing with, he'd be dead before he even knew what hit him...but I prefer Speilberg's take! :D

My issues with Temple of Doom, which I still love, is Kate Capshaw.

The movie speaks to the fact (during the famous dinner of bugs, snakes and monkey brains) that there's a rumor (which later proves to be reality) that the Thugee have begun to reappear after being wiped out in the 1800s. Your point makes no sense. I think it basically boils down to the fact that many people despise Willie and Short Round. I'm not one of them.

You know what else didn't exist in the 1930s? 900 year old medieval knights hiding in caves in Jordan.

Isn't that more likely than a guy that rip out hearts with his bare hands?

Falaskan 08-04-2012 10:26 PM

Doom is demonic. Not my cup of tea.

They're both about as likely as multi-dimensional beings with crystal skeletons and a box that can melt people's faces. It's Indiana Jones, who cares about believability? If that's something you're looking for in these movies, you're missing the point.

+1

I've always loved it as well, granted Indiana Jones is my favorite series of all time so I may be a bit biased. :p

As far as the side characters, they were actually one of the reasons I loved it so much (not to mention the movie score is brilliant, I still hum alot of the songs to myself quite often :o)
