Hopefully there's a Trilogy boxset with EVERY imaginable extra available including the ones from the seperate Laserdiscs, Complete Adventures and the more current DVD release. Of course I'm certainly hoping each film will be 2-Discs each i.e. KotCS. BD50 for each disc of course if all three look on par with MINORITY REPORT and Saving Private Ryan... Oh, who am I kidding?! I'm buying this anyway!
I was hoping this would be released this year as it's Raiders of the Lost Ark 30th Anniversary.
I really prefer this Lucasfilm series over Star Bores.
Oh and full disc label artwork would be nice again i.e. KotCS.

Perhaps I can finally retire the four DVD-Rs of Indiana Jones extras which were LD-to-DVD preservations. Paramount uses AVC, correct?

There were no extras on any of the laserdiscs.

You people sure do love to knock down your straw-men. There has been one off-the-cuff comment about changes to films that was clearly referencing Spielberg's recent comments in the Jaws AICN interview. There have been about 10 posts complaining about that comment.

Relax.

The Great Adventurers and Their Quests and another one had seperate releases but released as this. All I have are the [irl=http://www.lddb.com/laserdisc/18747/LV83049/Great-Movie-Stunts/Making-of-Raiders-of-the-Lost-Ark-%281981%29]two[/url] Raiders of the Lost Ark DVD-Rs, one Temple of Doom DVD-R and one The Last Crusade DVD-R for "custom" extras discs. The exclusive fifth disc for the 2003 Trilogy release is only a snippet of the Making of LD for Raiders of the Lost Ark. I think The Temple of Doom might've been from a VHS. I'll watch them again and perhaps even post screenshots.
Trust me.

At least Spielberg is more of a Ridley Scott compared to George Lucas when it comes to different versions being available.

Thanks for letting us know. You don't happen to be old enough to have seen the original in 70mm 6-track? (I am and did.) I was wondering how it compared (to the best of your memory's ability.)

How did it sound? The original 6-track mag analog soundtrack had a sheen and smoothness to it that I never hear on digital soundtracks (although my ears aren't the same as they were then.)

The fact that this was shown last night indicates to me that the BDs should be coming soon, certainly this year.

I am old enough. It sounded amazing and was definitely from the newest 5.1 remix done for the 2002 DVDs. It had better sound amazing, Ben Burtt (sound designer), Richard Anderson (supervising sound effects editor), Gregg Landaker, and Steve Maslow (both re-recording mixers) were in attendance last night (as were editor Michael Kahn, art director Lesley Dilley, optical photography supervisor Bruce Nicholson, and producer Frank Marshall).

So much for Spielberg not wanting to tinker, eh?

Yep. It's seems like it's addictive for many of these guys.

Hopefully, it's a very slight change.

Relax.

People are just trying to point out that there is a huge difference between tinkering with and changing older films (ala Star Wars and ET 2002) and making the film you made and released in 1981 look the absolute best it can (by specifically brightening up two or three shots that 99.999999999% of viewers won't see a difference in without being told there is a difference). I see no contradiction between Spielberg's comment on AICN and what I saw projected last night.

Great news about the transfers being signed off on :)

Are we sure though that there have not been any CGI replacement shots? because the HDTV recording I made back in January of Raiders has a replacement shot (truck going over the cliff) and I doubt very much it was done just for TV airings.

Those were separate discs. They were never included with the movies themselves (except for Japan).
The making of Temple of Doom was never released on any format.

I believe Spielberg made that change for the DVD box set that was released several years ago.

This is awesome news! Can't wait.

Well I have them as Laserdisc or something else to DVD preservations I grabbed online and burned them to DVD since they were isos. Ever watched them? If not you should search for them. From an Indiana Jones fan such as myself they're must haves and well worth it.

Will this set use the same layouts of the more current Trilogy/Set as Kingdom of the Crystal Skull or something else? That's my big question. I know Spielberg will have this set right. IDGAF about the slight change in brightness.

EDIT: Only problem to me is Fate of Atlantis, Spear of Destiny or Iron Phoenix were never made into films.

LOL...whatever you downloaded, I probably made. ;)

MCT 06-19-2011 12:09 AM

too bad they're including Indy 4 in this set.

I suppose I'll just wait until the inevitable individual releases so as to avoid having that monstrosity in my collection.

MaxPower111 06-19-2011 12:15 AM

Best news ever. But I want it now!!

Indy 4 looks great on Blu-ray, and I'm sure these will be amazing.

Who said that?!? It baffles me that a few hours after it gets mentioned that the transfers were good to go for Blu-ray, we already have specs and an established wait for single Blu-rays that haven't even been announced yet.

This is why people were quick to jump on the OP because people jump all over any news and extrapolate all kinds of additional "facts" that have no connection to any reality. Give it another 6 months to a year and I won't be surprised when people are already complaining about "additional CG snakes, the color palette being "teal-ified," and all of the sound effects being re-recorded for a new mix (none of which is actually happening)... and all before the discs are even announced or released.

A lot of big names there. Did any of them talk about the blu-ray?
