Imagery in your writing.

http://www.associatedcontent.com/art...s_similes.html

Quote:

great writers of our time are masters of imagery, creating unique ways to use metaphors, similes and personification. Other imagery skills -- such as assonance -- are far more advanced and take more time to master, but even the most novice of writers can use imagery to make their work more powerful and whole.
A visual imagery in writing means that the audience or director receives the imagery that is induced and it is not a physical means of the director or studio to visually demonstrate this technique. This applies especially when there is no vision being represented and it must therefore be implied as in writing.

The visual imagery used for Last Crusade was a pond or mass of water I beleave. That is why Professor Henry Jones uses his umbrella to scare off birds next to the ocean in a scene. An umbrella also happens to be what was on my first birthday cake.

Spielberg intended the shot of Henry with his umbrella—after he causes the bird strike on the German plane—to evoke Ryan's Daughter

It is useless because? This causes my opinion to change. How is that useless?

He doesn't know why he thinks my birthday is irrelevant. ;)

Really hope it's a 2012 release. So many things to look forward to already next year!

Nothing yet. I'm sure Lucas and Spielberg will do some type of press announcement.

Wow, you can't look into a thread without running into color-grading issues of any sort...this is getting a little too much...

Yep, the LOTR thread is over 500 pages and mover 450 of it is filled with trolls and whiners concerning the green tint issue. It's sad really. In the meantime I've already watched the entire EE trilogy once and FOTR twice.

Agreed! Watched the whole trilogy the weekend I got it, and was very impressed!
As for an Indy release announcement...maybe around November? A little Thanksgiving gift from SS/GL?

You would think so since 2011 is the 30th anniversary of Raiders of the Lost Ark, but I wouldn't be surprised if it is not released until 2012.

I believe it's been hinted that it will be part of Paramount's 100th anniversary collection.

Maybe Paramount is waiting on Indy 5, but I am doubting that.

No way, we'll definitely see the Indy trilogy on BD before(IF we ever) see Indy 5.
Bill Hunt wrote about Indy along with about 20 other big titles to make their appearance on BD both in 2011 & 2012. During his panel at the SD Comicon, he was debating whether these years(2011/2012) will be considered the "golden age" of blu-ray. He could be right.
He's got a video link on his website, pretty interesting stuff.

Indy was fine the way it was movies represent a time period and should not be screwed with period. 4K posts

Raiders: 10
Tod: 8.5
LC: 7
CS: 6.5

The Temple of Doom better than The Last Crusade? I don't think so.

I realize all four of these films are have far fetched stuff in them, but Temple of Doom seems to constantly suspend reality from start to finish. A shikabob stick penetrating from 10 feet away, convenient canopies, impossible landing with a raft from several thousand feet, a man's sternum ceases to exist, mine carts that appear to have magnetic wheels, a bridge splitting just right so that the heroes are saved. Should I go on because I got much more for Temple of Doom?

frogmort 07-27-2011 05:37 AM

I would say:

Raiders: 10
ToD: 8
LC: 9.5
CS: 7.5
I really like them all.

I hope we get some news on this soon!

You say that like its a bad thing, as opposed to fitfully suspending reality in between painful stretches of bad dialog.

No, you're just reminding me why the creative team seemed to be on fire in Temple of Doom, and acting like they were shooting a made-for-TV film with Last Crusade.
