Raiders of the Lost Ark: $69.00
Temple of Doom: Free w/purchase of Raiders
Last Crusade: Free w/purchase of Temple of Doom
Crystal Skull: Please take this off our hands, inventory is outta control.

Perfectly stated ! This is one set I will NOT be purchasing until it is either less than $20, or the titles are available separately, since all I want is "Raiders," and could care less about the other 3 films.

This is why people were quick to jump on the OP because people jump all over any news and extrapolate all kinds of additional "facts" that have no connection to any reality. Give it another 6 months to a year and I won't be surprised when people are already complaining about "additional CG snakes, the color palette being "teal-ified," and all of the sound effects being re-recorded for a new mix (none of which is actually happening)... and all before the discs are even announced or released.

Tense Cliff? Relax man, it's the internet. People are gonna complain. That doesn't mean no complaints are legitimate.

You'll purchase it same for when you bought Legend. My guess is you don't care for adventure serials.

I hope the Deleted Scenes will be in HD from the 1930's Adventures. Anyone else consider GUNGA DIN an unofficial precursor to Temple of Doom? Great, now I'll be wanting GUNGA DIN on Blu-ray now!;)
Did Spielberg & Co. have the trilogy scanned at 4K? Actually I don't even think I need to ask since Spielberg supervises his films onto Blu-ray so I bet it'd be top-notch all around.

I am right there with you on that one. Sadly though I will have to buy the other two to get Raiders as I doubt they will be seperate releases. I just hope they don't throw in that Crystal Skull junk and charge extra as that is not a real Indy film.

Riddler95 06-19-2011 01:33 AM

You think that maybe this new set will feature extra room for those of us who have already purchased the Blu-Ray Indiana Jones and The Kingdom of the Crystal Skull? I don't think they would go and do a new edition of that one since the current Blu-Ray is only a little over 2 1/2 years old.

They didn't. It was just mentioned that they were screening a "recently completed restoration." You can watch the 40 minute panel here:

Raiders of the Lost Ark is probably my favorite movie of all time, so needless to say I am pretty jacked about this news. Looking forward to owning these.

BStecke 06-19-2011 01:52 AM

Damn I'd love to see that on the big screen. Are they screening it anywhere else like Taxi Driver?

chikin23 06-19-2011 01:52 AM

Good news, can't wait for this to be released.

"Not a real Indy film."

If you have this mindset then you wouldn't care whatsoever for the Indiana Jones books, comics, video games and the Young Indiana Jones Chronicles.
Kingdom of the Crystal Skull is as Indiana Jones as Raiders of the Lost Ark, Temple of Doom and The Last Crusade. Actually you should only rent Raiders of the Lost Ark whilst true Indiana Jones fans such as myself will be purchasing the boxset for all of the films.

Sounds like a plan, actually. You 'real fans' are more than welcome to pick up the bulk of the tab.

Me? I'll wait for individual releases or a ridiculously tempting sale on the set.

motorheadache95 06-19-2011 03:07 AM

I'd be a little annoyed if you had to buy a set with KOTCS, especially if it was the same exact discs, since you either already have the Blu-Ray or never had any intention of owning the film.

That being said, unlike Star Wars, I have no real reservations about this release, nothing that will stop me from buying it right away, anyway.

Belloche 06-19-2011 03:11 AM

I can't wait. Raiders of the Lost Ark has been my favorite movie since I saw it at the drive in when I was 7 years old.

I love Temple of Doom and it only loses marks because Kate Capshaw is annoying.

I like Last Crusade, but I think it's the weakest. Connery and Ford are fantastic together though.

Lots of people seem to hate it, but I really liked Crystal Skull. It's a little corny, but the action scenes are great. I kind of hope I don't have to buy it again to get the others, but I will if need be.

The only way I buy a set of three is if I can get a 14.99 Back to the Future type deal.....not that I will ever watch BTTF 2 or 3 ever again in my life. Oh I am a Raiders of the Lost Ark fan and in my opinion not a fan of bad films.

Thanks! 40 minutes but not a word about the blu-ray. Hmm.

Anyway, Raiders is my favorite movie of all time, and I like all the prequel/sequels too. I say bring on the Anthology!

I hope it's just the Trilogy especially since Kingdom of the Crystal Skull already received a quite thorough release. Still hoping for the Deleted Scenes in HD, the random Lucasfilm Archival extras, each title receiving two discs each i.e. KotCS and of course disc label artwork. Maybe Paramount will use the same design aesthetic similar to DVDs with the slipcovers? I wonder if they'll use the Richard Amsel or Drew Struzan posters. Hopefully theatrical posters and perhaps somebody could make a custom based on the teaser ones. I wouldn't even mind a custom for Raiders of the Lost Ark using the Drew Struzan poster.

Yep - Im with ya. No f'in way Im laying down any coin for anything other than The first Indy film. Unlike the Aliens set where even though I hate the 3rd and 4th films but was able to buy the set "right" meaning I paid roughly what the two films I really wanted would have cost separately. That cant happen here since I only want one film.

Unless Amazon UK has a deal on the set for like $20 bucks(as you said) or close to it, Im staying on the sidelines. They'll come out individually - they always do. And, Im thinking a lot of people only want Raiders.

I hope it's a dual release. Trilogy boxset with exclusive extras for those who want to own all three anyway and individual for those who want to pick and choose. I already know my answer.
Perhaps Paramount will even have slipcovers. Different ones for both boxset and individual releases. Nice embossing too perhaps. Of course only mere speculation.
I'll mention it again with Spielberg I have zero worries about this release.

The Mad Mule 06-19-2011 03:30 AM

Since the fourth movie (which theoretically was never made) was already released on Blu-ray, hopefully this means that the trilogy will be released seperate from the fourth one. AKA just have the boxset of the original three, nothing else added in.

I'm already planning ahead of when I have this on my shelf to have KotCS after it. I still would've preferred Fate of Atlantis, Spear of Destiny or Iron Phoenix to have been adapted for the silver screen. But hey KotCS fits in with the B-Movie films, especially the science fiction, from the 1950's, the Red Scare and many others which tie into it. Indy literally has way more adventures than just the feature films.
Oh, an other-dimensional being/Crytal Skull is less believable compared to the Ark of the Covenant, Sankara Stones or The Holy Grail? Gimme a damn break.
If there ever were an Indiana Jones 5 I'd love it if it were more HellBoy (comics and first film) blended with Return to Castle Wolfenstein/WOLFENSTEIN. Of course it'd basically be Iron Phoenix but with far more occultish and varied things for Indiana Jones to beat the crap out of and more.
Or even wilder speculation is to have an Indiana Jones TV series who almost looks spot on to Harrison Ford. With self-contained mini-series adapting the Bantam Books. I'd love to see Dance of the Giants.
But that's far too off topic and wouldn't be enjoyed for those who ONLY enjoy Raiders of the Lost Ark and excludes every single Indiana Jones adventure in their mindset.
