Scary thought: What if the set ONLY comes boxed in an exclusive faux Crystal Skull replica?? Furthermore with an announcement that there will never be single movies releases!
Methinks the villagers will be quickly grabbing pitchforks & torches! :D

I do like the Trekkie's idea of a leather wrapped digibook, or something of that ilk!

KOTCS will probably have new extras in a new set. Lucas never repeats the extras twice on his releases. so that should be a bonus for fans.

I don't understand that statement? Are you saying Lucas doesn't do that with DVD to BD, or BD to BD, or both?
I can guarantee there are carry over extras from the Star Wars dvds that are on the BD release.
Granted we know very little, at this point, but I find it hard to believe that some(if not all) of the 2-disc special feature are not carried over to a potential 4-disc set.

Then you'd be wrong.

The only thing carried over was the commentary.

Actually I'd be right, and you just touched on it: The Commentary.

Edit: Furthermore, as far as I know all the extras on American Graffiti were carried over. So my pointing out that "Lucas never carries over extras" as erroneous is spot on. Now one could say "Lucas doesn't always carry over his extras". Again, the proof will be in the proverbial pudding when this set is officially announced!

This is one the few releases that I would actually pay big money for a Limited/Special Edition in some nice packaging and extra goodies, like the Back To The Future tin. I skipped the Jurassic Park tin as I couldn't justify the £65, but Indiana Jones is a different story (literally) :D

Considering there are no commentaries on the Indiana Jones discs (and will never BE commentaries on them), there's nothing to carry over.

And I think we can all agree that the Indiana Jones saga is MUCH bigger than AG or THX. Personally, I hope we get those extras ported over (so that I don't have to save the other discs) PLUS add others (like the original 4 documentaries)but if they want to add just new stuff, I won't complain.

Oh I'm in total agreement! Just going back to the post about Lucas never carrying extras over and that post mentioning, in particular, KotCS...being the happy owner of the 2-disc limited digibook it will interesting to see what "new" extras can/will be added. About the only thing missing off that disc IS a commentary!
I think we can agree on this: Can't wait until the damn announcement!!!

Absolutely agreed. :)

My biggest "wants" for the new boxed set are:
deleted scenes
original documentaries (4)

Couldn't care less about any newly produced extras. The documentary from the newer boxed sets was just a re-hash of everything typically known about the films. The only interesting thing about it was all the original on-set footage that was never included in the documentaries. Perhaps the only thing that I'd be interested in (to be newly produced) would be a prop/costume video similar to the Star Wars one. Let's see all of the stuff that Lucasfilm has housed from the first three.

Yes, as an extras buff I would really like to see everything you listed. One thing I would also like to see, and I love it when cast/crew does this, is a roundtable "lookback" discussion. Kind of like on The Incredibles BD that was released last year. I always get a kick out of this types of retrospective things! Not only is it very interesting, but it tells the customer(me) that the cast/crew want to give a little something back to the fans for all the many years of appreciative support of said film(obviously, in this case Indy).
Anyway, my little hopeful nugget. Not that I'll be overly bummed if we don't get something like that.
To change gears a little, if the Spanish article you posted is credible(and I'm quite certain it is), when do you think we'll get an official US announcement. Let's assume that the same date applies to the US, wouldn't that mean an announcement would be due around May....that's using the Star Wars announcement as a benchmark? Always fun to speculate!

It's going to be a huge 4th quarter for Blu (and Spielberg) with Indy, Jaws and E.T. They're going to have to space out the respective press releases for all of them.

Well Universal's Jaws is 8/14, I believe that's confirmed. I don't expect that to be a pricey release, ie. no deluxe set(I hope I'm wrong about that). So, conceivably Indy could be released 9/18 to 10/16 and still give fans time to recoup for ET in late November/early December?

I REALLY hope we're getting a boxed set for Jaws. I can't see why they'd only do the first one. Make people buy all 4.

I'm a big UCE fan, so I'm hoping we get "the head, the tail, the whole damn thing"!! I haven't heard anything about the other 3 films, let alone a boxed set. I'd buy a boxed set for the first & second films alone.
But I was just using the single movie, no frills, release of Jaws as part of my Indy release date speculation....and to be honest, after last year I don't mind going a month or two without getting any of the releases for which I'm looking!

Oblivion138 01-30-2012 03:01 AM

They need to include THIS.

I hope they also release Schindler's List in the fourth quarter. Either way I can't wait for Indy, Jaws, and E.T. I've been waiting for those movies for awhile.

Agreed. Those are 2 of the 4 original documentaries that IndyMLVC mentioned above. Those, along with the other two: "The Making of IJ and the Temple of Doom" TV special and "Great Adventurers and Their Quests(TLC)", should be included, not to mention all the extras from the 2003 and 2008 sets. Considering they're all SD, they would fit on a BD-25. If they sell a set with all four films, you've got the four film discs, the KOTCS bonus BD, and the one I mentioned. A 6-disc set unless they choose to add new material like deleted scenes, outtakes, and a retrospective doc or roundtable discussion like rickah88 mentioned. Then you switch the 6th disc to a BD-50 or add a 7th disc for that new material.

It would be nice to see the four original docs given new HD transfers, but if Lucas wouldn't do it for the 3 original docs he included on the Star Wars set, he won't do it here either.

I'm looking forward to these, along with Jaws and E.T.

I really don't see this happening. The KOTCS extras are fairly extensive and were created by Spielberg's long time "making of
guy. I can't imagine they'd make the effort to create something new for something so recent/well done. If anything, I imagine they could just lose the second disc altogether and give us a new introduction or something.

It's o.k. to have an opinion, and defend your opinion.

It's NOT o.k. to post ridiculous pictures and fight for the sake of fighting.

Also, if you think the release is terrible etc... and you have stated that you won't buy it, then attacking the people who enjoy the release etc. is simply trolling and thread-crapping (even if you happen to be the person who created the thread).

No more silly fights please.

With all due respect, I NEVER said I wouldn't buy this set. I'm buying it on the first day.
