I only like one & three (& four is just awful!), so no pre-order from me.

For the extras, please include those great movie by movie docos that were on the DVD collection.

For the extras, please include those great movie by movie docos FROM THE ORIGINAL THEATRICAL RELEASES.

Personally, I thought the DVD docs were just a boring retread, aside from the old on-set footage.

quick thread hijack:

Anyone selling their Target exclusive digibook Kingdom of the Crystal Skull?

Now's the time to sell it ;) (to me ofcourse)

There were 4 major Lucasfilm-produced Indiana Jones documentaries from that era:
  • The Making of Raiders of the Lost Ark [general making-of; available on VHS and LD]
  • Great Movie Stunts: Raiders of the Lost Ark [focused on stunt-work; available on VHS and LD]
  • The Making of the Temple of Doom [general making-of; only aired on PBS]
  • Great Adventurers and their Quests: The Making of Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade [half making-of, half unrelated bits on then-current adventurers; available on VHS and LD]

The first 3 were all pretty good (especially Great Movie Stunts), but the Last Crusade one pretty much sucked. The bonus features from the DVD set(s) used these documentaries as their source for the on-the-set footage used within.

No they didn't.

Trust me...I know them inside and out. The original on-set footage was used for all the documentaries...but there was a ton of new footage in the DVD documentaries.

Perhaps I was imprecise. I should've said "The bonus features from the DVD set(s) used the footage used in these documentaries as a source for the on-the-set footage used within" instead of the source.

This is a day one purchase for me. :bullwhip:

I'm in the minority, but I really enjoy watching Kingdom of The Crystal Skull. My dad on the other hand (who I saw it with) hated it and to this very day will not re-watch it. He saw Raiders in theaters several times during it's release and from his stories, the theater kept it for almost a year, and I think the feel of it was so different for him that he wouldn't accept it.

Anyway, I'd rate them:
Last Crusade 8.5/10
Raiders 8/10
Crystal Skull 7.5/10
Temple 7/10

I'm not terribly hard on any of them, but I watch Temple of Doom the least.

Well, to be MORE precise, they just used on-set footage.
All of the documentaries used the same source. :)

There are few things that I'm anal about...these documentaries (and the star wars ones) are amongst them.

I don't have a problem with the feel of the film, it starts off quite well with the H bomb testing thing. But the odious boorish LeBeouf character (for "the kids" I suppose), & the second half of the film is one long chase that gets more stupid as it goes on (& on). And the Ray Winstone character, he's Indy's friend, no he's his enemy, no friend, no enemy. Flying Saucer, the end. Just awful. I feel better after that lot!

Sorry, but I'll be keeping mine! I'm sure you'll be able to nab one on the cheap via ebay or Amazon...or even here through trade!

I know you are...as much as I'm with you on this, I've already prepared myself for material that will be missing. The question here is not if, but how much!!

Or they'll be in the same quality as the Star Wars release, which is my BIGGER worry.

Me, too.

But I have a plan: I'm buying the box set, making custom covers, and selling off the other three, and keeping Raiders.

InMyTree 03-01-2012 01:38 PM

I love the first three, and honestly while the 4th one has some major flaws i still enjoy it to a certain degree.

This ones a no brainer for me. Already pre-ordered.

It should come with a separate package with only the trilogy, some of us already have Crystal Skulls on Blu-ray.

to solve this they should not only sell them as seperates but also for say a buck or two, (or send in for it to be mailed to ya) sell the case that holds all 4 movies. this way you buy the first 3 movies and slap them in the case with the fourth.

my issue is wasn't the 4th movie sorta like a digibook (notice i said sorta for the folks who are gonna jump all over this) so if the others come in standard cases you wouldn't be able to make the original case of the 4th movie fit in the quad case that they will be offering.

whatever happens, it will be interesting indeed!

Yes, it was a Target exclusive DVD sized digibook. If it had been BD sized I'd have jumped on it.

Whoa whoa whoa! How is some of the above not a spoiler?! Some of us haven't seen the movie yet.

Just got the e-mail from Amazon that this "set" was now available. What a waste. The original is the only truly good film although I can deal with Last Crusade. TOD and KOTCS are vomit-inducing.

Another focking screwjob release. So, its either off to Amazon UK if the set is cheap enough(like the Alien set which also had two wortless films in it) OR we'll just have to wait a really long time and hope they come out individually. Even if it didnt include KOTCS Id consider it....but NOPE......

DAMNIT!!! :cringe:
