I'll definitely be picking this one up as I felt it was just as good as the first one and that's uncommon when it comes to sequels.

Anyone know if it's coming with a slipcover?

Blu-Benny 06-25-2011 08:26 PM

love the 1st one, will get this one as well.

On point 1, I very very much agree, although I've found that it isn't as rare for sequels to be as good as the original as some say. Just my opinion. On point 2, I would think so considering DreamWorks animated films come with those blue and yellow bordered slips now. Like MegaMind, HTTYD and the re-releases on Panda, etc. So chances of a slip are high.

Don't see a reason to pre-order this early but I'll get this one day 1 for sure.

Comicman494 06-25-2011 09:42 PM

So we're getting a 3D release for Thor, but not Kung Fu Panda 2? I call foul, Paramount! What the deuce?! I will still be picking this up, just peeved.

hidef al 06-25-2011 10:29 PM

Day one purchase for me. Enjoyed KFP2 very much. I thought it was better than the first one. And most likely this release will have a SLIPCOVER!!!!

KilloWertz 06-26-2011 12:50 AM

One of my likely many day one purchases of the summer movies of this year. I just recently blind bought the first one and really liked it, so this one is a no brainer.

It's not Paramount's fault. It was a decision made by Dreamworks. There's an agreement to release Dreamworks films in 3D exclusively with Samsung 3DTVs.

Although, the exclusive window is only for a year or even less... so it's Dreamworks own decision to not wide-release Monsters and Aliens, Shrek 1-4, How To Train Your Dragon, Megamind, and Kung Fu Panda 2 in 3D. I think it's because the company wants more market saturation so that they can make the the most money at once.

I think this is stupid because several people buy their 3D movies from eBay(and not giving any profit to Dreamworks as a result) instead of from Samsung exclusive bundles. These are hundreds to thousands of customers who could be buying these films officially right now. But... Hollywood has always been stupid.

seems like there will be a kungfu panda 3, thus a trilogy - the father appears at the end of 2nd movie. so should we wait for the trilogy boxed set or buy this first....

Why make yourself wait? It'll be years, literally, before you see KFP3 in theaters. Enjoy these movies while you can. If you think it'll be awkward to have a 2 film boxset when you know there will be a third, just get the seperate releases. Plus it appears that the two movie set doesn't have the second disc of KFP2, but it does have all of the extras, so idk.

I doubt that the Box Set will have anything substantial. It'll most likely collect the three movies together. There won't be any exclusive features, but there might be nice packaging.
People waited on Toy Story, but ended up buying 3 separate releases because the box set was just the three movies in a toy box(that wasn't of the best quality IMO)

I waited for the TS trilogy boxset, but ended up getting the seperate releases due to what you said, the box being too big and flimsy...:(

That said, the KFP boxset will be from DreamWorks, and what we've learned from the Shrek: The Whole Story set is that they know how to get it done in the boxset department.

Totally true. Dreamworks make much better boxsets than slipcovers. Their slipcovers always feel cheap and thin and lacking flair. But I've heard that Dreamworks plans on branching out their Kung Fu Panda and Dragon franchises into 6 film series if they're profitable. This could mean a long time before a Kung Fu Panda boxset.

Getting conflicting reports here. Is this release going to be 2BD+DVD+DC or is it just 1 BD?

Either way, would love to get this on release week. If not in 3D, then 2D would be fine

Will they include Secrets of the Furious Five on Blu-Ray FOR ONCE?

Didn't like it as much as the first. Was decent.
