YES!!!!!!!!!! My favorite film finally is gonna hit Blu. Thanks OP.

TheZatch 11-04-2011 12:30 AM

I don't think this is the James Cameron film.

The first red flag was that it isn't rated. The second, that it is from A&E Home Video, not Paramount.

SPIDERone 11-04-2011 12:32 AM

I'd wait for some more details to come up before ordering.. it says A&E Home Video is the studio.. wonder if it's a documentary or something?

Or maybe the Asylum sequal? ;)

Crap.

Mr. Cinema 11-04-2011 12:40 AM

Definitely not the Cameron version. For 2 reasons. The studio listed is A&E. The second is the list price isn't $54.99.

Looks like it is a Documentary...

"The Titanic was known as "the ship of dreams." On April 14, 1912, during the last leg of her maiden voyage, the ship struck an iceberg and sank with the loss of more than 1500 lives. Now, the sensational history of the ill-fated liner is recounted definitively in "Titanic," the award-winning documentary first seen on the Arts & Entertainment Network. In the most complete chronicle of the Titanic disaster ever created, rarely seen newsreel footage and filmed testimonials of survivors and historians take you on an incomparable voyage into one of history's most unforgettable tragedies."

Isn't the 3D version being released in theaters first?

rickah88 11-04-2011 02:04 AM

Not to worry. Seeing as 2012 is the 100th Anniversary of the sinking(& Paramount) it's pretty safe bet this will be out on blu.
Now my question is this: Would Paramount release the blu to coinside witht he 3D theatrical release, or wait until after?
I guess it would be after, as they can market it as 3DBD, BD, dvd, dc, uv, etc etc. I just can't help but think releasing both at the same time would be a great cross promotion for one another...and 3D TV too!

Guydowood 11-04-2011 11:22 AM

Opps! Guess I got to thrilled to see it listed and didn't bother to read the fine print. I suppose I get an F for not following directions. story of my life.....

I'd imagine they'll release it shortly after once audiences in the theatres diminish.

I wonder in this documentary, or any Titanic Blu, how well wreck footage will look. I'd imagine not great considering the limited lighting.

I don't know, some of those submersables have pretty strong lights!
I hope Cameron puts out a mega-set for the blu release!

+1. I want a big box like the one Paramount did for The Ten Commandments.
Funny how this thread ended up talking about the James Cameron movie. :p

Well I think that was the OP's original intent, so I think we're good! :D

I saw some pictures posted several months ago of a really neat 4 or 5 disc "blu-ray" set. I believe the cover had the actual image of the sunken Titanic's bow. That's the type of set I'm talking about:
BD, 3DBD, all the SE dvd extras...plus any new doc's that have been released since that dvd!

The current plan at Paramount is to release the 3D Blu-ray after the theatrical 3D run in 2012. Some may be displeased to hear that the current plan to release the 2D version (at first) is to package it with a 3D combo pack.

Yeah... I have the old "Ghosts of the Abyss" import 3D DVD. It's anaglyph (blue/amber), so the color is off, but the depth and "presence" look pretty good, considering.

That was obviously fake, but I would be very excited if it ended up materializing somehow. Being the 2nd highest grossing flm of all time, it better have a TON of bonus features.

That would be great to see that included as well, although I'm not sure about the licensing? I'm sure if Cameron wanted it, he could get it done!

I just saw the cover on this site...that's not too bad either, although I do like the power of the real underwater shot!
