Picked up Ray and Breakfast Club @ Walmart (they had lots) but not American Graffiti... so went to Target and they had only one... they had a few of the others... all were hidden in with the DVDs

Darkthrone 01-17-2012 01:26 PM

How much are these at walmart in-store (I see they're $13 on-line, but a lot of times in-store and on-line prices are different)?

My local walmart had three different prices depending on the titles - $9.9x, $11.98 and $13.00.

Your calculation is wrong.

And HOW may I ask is it wrong? For example, he doesn't say he took advantage of BB's "upgrade and save" offer (though he may well have). He's comparing $14.99 at some other places with the slip (i.e., Target) to $4.99 without the slip at BB; even if that was after DVD exchange, it's still an expensive slip.

I brought them up with the coupons on top of the BD's and this young girl looked confused, went over to the phone, and sat there staring at the coupons for like 10/20 min! She finally came over and said that she needed a supervisor or something to put in the coupons. Then she went back over to the phone AGAIN and sat there for like 5 min. (it didn't look like she was even talking). Suddenly, a woman walked up, I'm thinking "Yes! Someone who can just let me buy the damn movies!", I was wrong. She didn't know what to do either, so she went over to the phone (WTF??) and sat there for another 5 min! So (again) a supervisor woman finally came and explained to these clueless people how to enter the coupon. I thought I was free at last, until the woman said "This coupons won't work because they are for either a SINGLE Blu-ray or DVD, and this has the Blu-ray AND the DVD with it." I tried to explain that those were what the coupons were for and there weren't any individual releases with JUST Blu-ray or JUST DVD. But she insisted to have the other women go out and search for these no-existent packages. So after another, 5 min., they come back and say there is none (duh). She finally pays for my items and I walk out of this 35 min. checkout nonsense.

And the sad part is, I was checking out in the ELECTRONICS section. Shouldn't they have people that know what their doing in there?

Wow, I would've been pissed. What a group of idiots.

At least those stickers come off with no issues and leave no residue. You should be more concerned about the BB price sticker. :ohnoes::p

you were right. But I did get the price tag off 98% without a tear...then the other 2% left a glue residue

I bought my copy for $11.99 not $14.99. :D Sure, it might be an expensive slipcover but us slipcover junkies don't have a problem with that. The original release of 40 Year Old Virgin never had a slip so this is why some members are going crazy for these Uni 100th Anniversary slipcovers.

Dellamorte13 01-18-2012 01:37 AM

Don't know if this has been discussed in this thread yet but I was at Target today (Bay Area, California) and saw the Apollo 13 100 Years edition for $7.50 (or maybe it was $7.99). I checked the sku on the sale tag and on the back of the movie and they matched but beware because this is most likely YMMV.
I'd be curious if anyone on here finds the same price and uses the $3 off coupon!

Besides The Bourne Identity I didn't see any other 100 Years discs.

I'm still trying to find Fast Times ARH at a store so I can use the coupon!

hidef al 01-18-2012 03:41 AM

Hey OP, To Kill a Mockingbird comes out on the 31st of January. Not the 14th of February.

Minimejer05 01-19-2012 09:38 PM

Damn it! Didn't realize the Bourne films were re-packages of the flipper discs. I thought for sure they were new bundles with separate discs. Oh well, the slips look so sweet! Saw tons of regular, original press slips attached. Only found one copy of Ultimatum and none of Identity or Supremacy.

I agree about the TV series being out on the shelf and being more expensive.

I will say, in defense of the plastic covers, that I prefer the slipcover movies to be in them. Now, the fact that they are 'sometimes" shoved in so tight that the cashier has to almost rip them out, is ludicrous. The plus side to it though, is it keeps the slipcover free from those bloody price stickers the stores love to affix (like Fry's & Best Buy & Walmart). I'll pay the extra $2-3 bucks just to have a clean slip W/O price stickers.

As for the slips having that "slant", I think this is normal. They look kinda sweet on the shelf when you have 6 or more.

Those round stickers that hold the movie in the slips, I would take those off ASAP, as who knows what the outcome will be if left on to long. I figure, the sooner the better.

Interesting. Mine had only two prices. $11.98 and $15, but they don't have all of the 100s just certain ones.

Trekkie313 01-24-2012 12:29 AM

Got 40-Year Old Virgin, Inglorious Basterds and The Breakfast Club.

Has anyone else gotten shitty cases? Two of my Universal 100 cases won't snap together at the bottom after opening.

Funny thing is I picked up American Graffiti at a Target and the checker didn't even pay attention to what I bought or the coupon. Just scanned them both in and away I went.
