Sorry if this has been answered ITT already, but why do some of these releases not have digital copies with them?

Don't think so, just pick and choose I guess. Odd though you figured they would all have them or none at all.

In today's newspaper, there was a flyer from wal-mart 'Celebrating 100 Years of Unforgetable Movies' (Universal) featuring four Walmart Exclusive Double Features...($9.96)

Meet the Parents/Parenthood
The Egg and I/Francis the Talking Mule
Charade/Harvey
The Jerk/Carwash

These might be DVD only...the ad copy doesn't look like blu, but it is small and the title I looked for at Dotcom wasn't listed at all.

Just got back from Walmart as well. Found a 4 foot display at the back of the dept, didn't have all of these titles, but enough that it's reasonable to assume that its DVD only since there were no blu-ray versions. The list "leaked" last year had Charade down as a DVD only title as well, so am assuming the exclusivity deal with Wal-mart is why the Harvey blu ray was delayed(?).

Interesting post Squirrel, don't believe For Whom The Bell Tolls has been mentioned before. Reallyhope that is a quality release that comes out in the US as well.

It's very odd ... they all have AT LEAST Blu-Ray + DVD. Seems dumb to not always include a DC. Maybe it has to do with licensing to iTunes?

Also hell yes @ The Birds, and I laughed really hard seeing that Jaws is called SQUALO.

I sure hope they're wrong about Schindler's List being 2.35 :ohnoes:

Deciazulado 03-18-2012 09:00 PM

The 1.85 was a cropped at the sides ;)

DetroitSquirreL 03-18-2012 10:39 PM

I'll be getting all of those except maybe 'The Sting'. Not a huge fan of that film

zafisher94 03-18-2012 10:42 PM

count me in for Jaws, The Birds, ET, The Mummy, The Sting, and Schindler's List

alphadec 03-18-2012 11:04 PM

just a new slipcover (or cover design), plus a dvd copy, and some also have a digital copy

so no reason to double dip. ?

Not interested in most of these, but I did pick up The Breakfast Club at Wal-Mart tonight with the Breakfast Club postcard. They had about ten copies or so, I checked the back of each to see which card I was getting. Figured going with the movie I was buying made the most sense.

You mean it was shot with anamorphic lens and then cropped the sides to 1.85:1?

I thought they shot on Super35 and then cropped top and/or bottom like most movies.
